Saw this on a personal ad tonight (not an escort ad). Wondered how other people would react to something like this?

Thanks.

Probably NOT well if they were Drunks, druggies or Fatties !

I understand that there are preferences and while he is expressing those, I think it could have been put a little better, speaking about the reference to "fatties". However, it does show the type of person the poster is and that is sufficient for many to pass (including those that may not be overweight).

Such a policy would wreak havoc with the guest list for my Labor Day Barbecue. http://www.maleescortreview.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

We all have preferences, but I doubt that those items are the only ones in his category of desirable categories. I suspect that he would not be a very desirable person to be with, even if he were good looking, muscular, etc.... his mind is pretty closed and I suspect he thinks he is God's gift to the world. I have had some experience with folks who are so adamant about what they want in friends, and most of them are pretty lonely.

Thanks all. I keep seeing ads like this. I know how I feel about these kinds of ads, but since I'm pretty heavy, I'm a bit biased.

Thanks for letting me know that gaykind isn't all bad!

Would that be because Labor Day has already come and gone?

Well, unless the Aztecs have it right, we'll have another Labor Day on September 2nd.

I guess it's possible that my friends and I will be slimmed down, sobered up, and purged of all illicit substances by then.

Of course, it's also possible that, by then, our type could make a comeback. http://www.maleescortreview.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

The ads I love are the ones that say "no fems, no fats, no olds." I always hope to see those 20-somethings when they're in their 40s and they get the same treatment. One of my favorites said "no olds (over 28)." LOL.

I'm a "fattie" but I don't resent the add. That person is just stating what he feels and is "to the point." I don't like hairy men and that's just a preference. It is a big turn-off for me as fat people are for him.

In the 80's, it was common to see the phrase 'no beards, no fats, no fems' in the personal ads in my local gay newspaper, until the editors refused to accept that wording.

I myself am not generally attracted to bearded men, overweight men, or feminine men, and I don't begrudge anyone their personal preferences or limitations, but I think you can express those preferences without being insulting to others.

I am fat and hairy!!! But that is ok, people have their preferances and it is easier to weed them out, if they are upfront.

As someone overweight, I prefer the directness of "no fats" than the more subtle height and weight proportionate. It's almost as if someone realizes he is going to insult some readers, but hoping to get the off the hook by not exactly saying it.

Personally, I've never seen a "no fats" ad. I wouldn't be offended because it would save me time, money, embarrassment, and disappointment. About 6 years ago, I lost 120# and went from obese to scrawny. Now, how do I explain "saggy"??

At least they're trying to be polite. You get an A in my book for that. Bluntness is just often an excuse to be rude.

And the reality is that many of these guy's idea of "fat" is basically "you don't have a six pack."

I have a rule on my website - no guys under 21 yet I do see guys 18-21 from time to time if they sound sensible on the phone but the most problems I have ever had were from 18-21 year olds, texting me at all hours, thinking about me, wanting to know if they could be an escort, thinking 1 hour is 3 hours and being hard to shift.

I try not to see gay men whereever possible because they're the worst appointments I have ever had. Insulting queens, men who have no anal hygiene (I expect it of the married types but gay men should know better), bitchyness and urgh just all sorts of things that turn me off.

I am not sexually attracted to guys under 21 and I don't find gay men a turn on (even though I am gay - very strange I know, I like the openminded/married/bi types) but I will see both but I would never insult either section of the community.

I also chuckle at the guys who ring me and ask my age (it's in every advert from the local rag to my website, to listing sites etc) and then said "Oh I thought you might have been about 25, that's too old". I once had a guy come to the door and said "I've come to see Steve" and when I said "I am Steve", he replied "Oh I thought you were his dad" and scuttled off. FFS his dad, I am not that bloody old and how many 18 year olds do incalls from a place like where I live (not being snobbish but it took me 6 houses up the property ladder and a death in the family before I could afford this one). They make me laugh

I don't think I've ever see a "no beards" ad. Whether I like a particular beard depends on the person, ditto with "fem". Some people it's natural, and that's OK. Others, it seems to be an affectation, and that's not OK.
