A gay couple traveling on United/Continental to Costa Rica found their dildo had been removed from the suitcase...and taped to the top! Not only that, a foul substance had been smeared on it. They are suing the airline.

Courthouse News reports:

Plaintiffs' bags were sent to the baggage carousel where plaintiffs discovered, to their horror, that a private sex toy had been removed from one of their bags, covered in a greasy foul-smelling substance and taped prominently to the top of their bag," the lawsuit states,

according to Courthouse News. "Plaintiffs experienced extreme shock and horror when they observed the above-described bag and when observing the surprised and/or laughing faces of numerous onlookers in the baggage claim area."

The court document goes on to note, "Plaintiffs were experiencing such a high degree of shock and embarrassment that they felt compelled to call two friends to come to the airport to assist them."

This was not a prank it was indecent harassment and invasion of privacy. The airline, baggage handlers, airport administration ALL should be held accountable. What next? Dirty underwear taped to your luggage? Smelly socks wrapped around the luggage handles? Vibrators dangling from luggage straps?

I suspect that most of us carry things in our baggage that we do NOT WANT hanging out for all to see. And we should all feel threatened by this type of behaviour.

Although I agree the responsible party should be held accountable, let's not assume that all these parties are guilty. You didn't mention the baggage inspectors, who are in the best position to locate the contents while they searched the bag.

rvwnsd---thanks for adding another "responsible" party to my list---must admit I was in a foul mood when I posted my response, but still feel that more than one party bears responsibility for this and often blame gets passed downward to those least able to defend themselves. If baggage inspectors were in fact the guilty ones, their supervisors also bear some blame for not training and supervising them well.
