She lives in a dumpy little apartment in Brooklyn with her free loading boyfriend. She sends money back to her Mother in Burbank, to put towards crushed glass for her stepfather's oatmeal.

It's not exactly like I'm flaunting a personal relationship with Queen Elizabeth here. I'm also friends with Chaz Dean; is this so hard to believe? I've also known Ethan Hawke since we were very young, and have the personal email for Bette Midler; the last time I went out with Madame M was at the now defunct V's Steakhouse in Columbus Circle. Shall I go on?

Not to name-drop, but I myself am not entirely without a few well-known acquaintances. To mention just a few:

Dolly Parton and I are bosom buddies.

Mr. Whipple once gave me a squeeze.

Joe Biden and I are on nodding terms.

Bishop Sheen worshipped the ground I walk on.

George W. and I were friends but had a falling out.

I used to have coffee with Mrs. Olson.

Sarah Palin was my pen pal.

Willie Nelson and I had some high old times.

Mitt Romney let me borrow his flip-flops.

Charlie Sheen and I were very tight. http://i45.tinypic.com/96bbif.gif

I'll go on if you will . . .

I had lunch with Ronald McDonald the other day, and we played in those colored Balls. And then shared some McNuggets and a McFlurry

Since you have some sort of friendship with her, could you not encourage her to get a better job with another company? What would the next step up in her job category be? Is she a legal assistant? Could you--that is to say, your company--offer to pay for some sort of night school course that would make her more valuable, and then pack her off somewhere else?
