Hey NY Guys,

The local news and weather channel all say that La Guradia is closed. Is there any news yet as to when it will re-open. Do you think things will be close to back to "normal" by Thursday. I understand you are getting more snow right now? I am scheduled to fly into LaGuardia on Thursday afternoon. Would appreciate any local views about the odds of that actually happening. The Airlines aren't quoting anything for the time being so don't know if things will calm down and travel resume by Thursday or not. And let's not even discuss what kind of mental case would choose to travel to NY in Late February ok?. Thanks for any reassurances.

In my experience with O'Hare here in ChiTown, flights will be back to normal in 24-48 hours. Once the snow stops clearing the runways isn't all that difficult. The problem is getting the planes and crews back to where they are supposed to be.

It can take considerably longer to get all the stranded passengers all over the country where they need to be. Start checking with the airline tomorrow and if the flight isn't cancelled get to the airport early. Get your boarding pass in hand so you don't get bumped. The plane will probably be packed and overbooked.

Things are slowly but surely getting back to normal. This morning's commute was a bit of adventure, but I had no problems going home. Walking is a bit difficult. There's mountains of snow everywhere, but I expect that things will be much improved by the time you get here. The airports were scheduled to reopen around 11:00 a.m. this morning. The eleven o'clock news is reporting that it may take the airlines a couple of days to sort everything out. It's supposed to be in the 40's on Thursday so things should start to melt. (The bad news is that they're predicting more bad weather for the weekend.)

Warmer weather today should melt alot of it. Walking was a challenge on Tuesday because the street corners were piled high with snow-plow debris and not everybody had shovelled out paths yet. But today should be much better. Airports should be running normally. It snowed a bit Tuesday morning but no real accumulation. Your trip should be OK for Thursday, barring a sudden change in the weather.
