And the inevitable boycott of Google by the American Family Association:

From the AFA: "A lot of us are so integrated into Google and Google products. This is going to be a tough one. It's more than just a search engine. Many of us have Android phones -- the Android system is a Google product. Many of us use Google calendar, Google Tasks and Gmail. And all those kinds of things. YouTube. And all the other things ... this one's going to be tough. This one's going to be one of those situations where I guess we'll test the meat of our convictions."

Read: We had to do it as a symbolic gesture. We'll make some stabs at changing calendar programs, but in a few weeks, we'll pretend this never happened.

This is why Google and Microsoft can afford to do this. They're pretty much got a near-monopoly in the important segments, so they're boycott-proof.

Personally I'd like to see a reverse boycott where Google says: "Hey guys, we're sorry and all and this is going to be a tough one, but we're fixing it to where none of our features work with your IP addresses. Toodles."

That would be playing right into the AFA's hands. Religious discrimination, etc.
