Thanks, everyone, for the compliments. I got it today, and it's beautiful.

I don't think it's too big at all, and it really brings out my eyes much better than the smaller one I looked at before.

Gallahad, you're the second person who asked about Tiffany's. No, it's from a different retailer, but my necklace is very flattered that you asked.

Jawjateck, that's an incredibly sweet thing to say. I can tell you've got those southern manners. I'd be delighted to have dinner with you when I'm down in Atlanta.

Perhaps, a single black pearl of good quality displayed in a restrained, "classic" setting of gold and diamonds. My problem with this geometric piece is that, in time, it will appear "dated", not "timeless".

EBay Item 190489209816; close to what I had in mind, but, lacks the "finesse" of master jewelers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A single, good quality stone in a fine setting always catches my eye. . .

"A Christmas tree? We don't require a tree as Cousin Grace is coming to Christmas dinner." Google a photograph of Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt (Grace Graham Wilson) dressed for "battle" on the field of New York Society, yes society with a capital "S", in her celebrated diamond-studded tiara, necklace, clips, brooches, "fringe" and stomacher. Now that's "intimidatin'". . .

My penchant has always been for a "3-piece set"....:D

An interesting scenario would be to dine with you when you make a splash coming out at one of our famed Hooville dinners. Something to consider perhaps?? :)

But by all means, if you find yourself in my area, please feel free to call upon me. I split time between my home in Savannah and my apartment in Atlanta, and it would be my pleasure to welcome you to Jawja.

Jawja, if a dinner is ever held in NYC while I'm in town, I'll be there! I used to go to Charleston SC all the time (stayed at my favorite, the Plantation Inn), and I once visited Savannah on the same trip. Maybe I'll go again!

Robber, From what I've heard, the 3 stone drop is considered pretty classic, and it fits my minimalist style well. (The more antique designs are nice but not really my style.) The other option would be a .75 carat solitaire princess cut. The good thing about this particular store is their very generous return policy, so you can take time to decide.

I'm thinking of buying this 1 carat total weight pendant--meaning the bottom one is about 1/2 carat, middle is 1/3, and top is 1/6. The pendant is about 5/8 inches high.

If you were a wealthy but down-to-earth guy on a date, would a girl wearing this seem like a gold digger? (The two people I mentioned above fit that demographic, but there are probably others too who just haven't revealed that in posts.). I don't wear any other jewelry--no bracelets or rings, and my ears aren't even pierced--and I don't carry expensive handbags.

I think it would look lovely on you.

FF - although your new acquisition is exquisite and befitting your Royal persona...... a word of advice.. there are wonderful "imposters" in the marketplace these days, and noone can actually tell the difference between The REAL thing and a quality "imposter".. Infact the 100 facet "imposters" look BETTER than REAL.... therfore I would suggest you buy a Fake and put the cash in the bank.... diamonds dont really have great resale value...

Well FF, if you find yourself in Charleston again (another old stomping ground of mine), then please stop in at Poogan's Porch, my favorite little dining spot on the peninsula, and if fate brings you to Savannah again, then by all means, avoid Ms. Dean's restaurant like a plague, but rather, you will find that the Chart House on River Street serves up fine fare. Regardless, I'm glad you have experienced Southern excellence in your lifetime. :)

Jawja, I've been to Poogan's porch! Have you been to my faves, Anson, Magnolia, and 82 Queen?

Citylaw, thanks!

JJ, that is an excellent point, and I did some research on fakes for a while before getting this. While the low end CZs are inexpensive, the high quality fakes (like Moissanite) cost about 1/3 as much as the real thing. Als they usually have a colored tinge that makes them look different than a diamond.

Good to know we have shared cuisine histories. I've enjoyed Magnolia's and 82 Queen. I will remember your suggestion of Anson the next time I visit the low country. Suddenly, I'm feeling a tad hungered. Wonder why?

FF, your taste for simplicity is genuine class. While certainly an attractive necklace, I appreciate that it would not overwhelm those in your company such that they/we/I might be tempted to neglect your strength of character or other charming qualities, which are the real jewels on display. The necklace shows well, with the backdrop of your beautiful skin. Watch out Hooville! When FF shows up at one of our dinners, we will have some major eye candy at the table. ;)

So I decided to keep the smaller (0.5) carat version of this and return the larger one. The main reason is that, IMO, the smaller one emphasized my big blue eyes while the larger one competed with them. I also figured I could do other things with that extra $2500. If you're thinking of buying diamonds online, the nice thing about BlueNile is that they make returns easy; they have someone available 24/7 for returns/customer service, and the whole conversation took less than 60 seconds. I've also heard good things about a site called WhiteFlash.

What are you going to wear with the hot red dress?
