Thought you all would like to know. He turned down the "take-out" suggestion. Like I said, "no harm, no foul".

Glad you are OK with it unsub. Sometimes people say things "in the moment" or for lack of a silent pause. My rule of thumb is that I usually ignore things unless mentioned "several" times.

If the comment is real and genuine, it will be pursued.

Are you planning on seeing the guy again? If not there is not a next time, no lunch. If you are going to see the guy again the ball is in your court. To me it is somewhat understood that the escorts lunch is paid for by the client. You can always pick the restaurant. However, wheather you pay for his time is something else. I always say lunch/dinner sounds great, but is it off the clock? That way you know what is expected. I had a bad experience with two high priced escorts. The deal was dinner and three hours. Well dinner took two of those hours. This left me with one hour with them. I was ripped off. Remember it is your dollar. The escort can decide to accept or decline. But don't be bashful. I have learned the hard way. These things should be discussed ahead of time, then things should go well.

Thanks, Edward and JJ, for your input. JJ, he did mention it several times, but I never asked him whether or not it was "on the clock". Edward, my need for discretion was even more deciding than whether or not it was "on the clock". That's the real reason that I suggested take-out. I am seeing him again, and a meal out will never be on the table. But, I'm going to ask him if it would have been "on or off the clock" for my own education and interest. And, yes, our "relationship" has reached the point where I have no problem asking him the question directly.

Thought I'd finish the tale for whoever is interested. I did ask him if the lunch would be "on the clock". His exact answer was, "Hell, no. I asked you. If someone asks me to dinner or something else before an appointment, I quote him my usual rate for my time."
