I'm kinda surprised that there are so few threads about health and fitness. It seems like we talk about just about everything else.

Has anyone else noticed it?

Not sure exactly what kind of threads you are looking for Erie. If you mean discussions on ways to stay healthy--exercise, good eating habits, reducing stress, habits/vices to avoid, etc., etc. it could be that there are so many other sources of this information that most posters do not feel a need to ask or discuss them here. If you mean personal anecdotes concerning health issues, I am quite happy not seeing that here---get enough from relatives, acquaintances who seem to want to talk about nothing but their aches, pains, medications and which restaurant they went to and what they had to eat. Of course I am NOT referring to the four men who used humour in their replies--they all have lots to offer in terms of conversation as I have seen in many of their posts.

I think the most excercise many of the members get is texting an escort to setup an appt.? They have very fit fingers......

No matter how much I excercise at my age, my body dont wanna cooperate....

Nice! Soda is nasty! I gave up diet soda recently and dropped a few pounds and actually feel better.. I am thinking about trying the P90X thing... Keep up the good work!

I've heard and seen results from those that have used the P90X program. It will work well, but as with any exercise program, you MUST be eating right or it is virtually pointless to do as you won't see all of the results that you want. A proper diet is a majority of the "key" to success with a weight management program, whether you're trying to lose weight, put on lean muscle, or tone up.

Just remember...everything in moderation, and you will be fine.

For the record I have not eaten a French fry since sometime in the 1990's... and have absolutely no desire to do so... and have not touched a soda since even before that. I know... I'm no fun.

I decided not to drink anything containing high fructose corn syrup. That leaves out not only most soft drinks but most bottled teas and juices. I think it's helping to keep the pounds off.

I do drink orange juice and lemonade. OJ is particularly good for people who are prone to kidney stones (drink lots of water, people!).

Part of my weight loss was giving up fast food. I can't remember how long it's been since I've eaten McDonald's. Diet Coke is still my big bugaboo. I've gotten it down to once a week but I long for Tuesday's(my soda day) like any other addict. It's hard to go sodaless. It's EVERYWHERE.

Actually, what I really found as being the key to success was staying away from cheese as much as possible... It is not only hard to digest and thus stresses your body in the process... but it is insanely high in fat as well... and that goes for even the so-called lite varieties... one of my best decisions ever. I genuinely can't remember the last time I had a gilled cheese sandwich or for that matter even a "chee-burger"...

I believe in Everything in moderation. While I appreciate that One thing doesnt work for everyone, I dont believe in depriving yourself of things you love, ie: CHEESE, because that only makes you crave it more, and cravings are a Call for Disaster.... You have to find some balance. Life holds small pleasures, and eatting is one of them. Since life is short, try to find a way to enjoy the things you love in a way that works for your body.

I always say food was my first addiction. In fact 160lbs overweight addiction. At one time, I carried around my own escort!!! So when you guys talk about food cravings, and "comfort" foods, I certainly could add my own chapter or two. I just read recently that a large part of weight gain can be attributed to sugared drinks/chips of many kinds/fried foods. I still will wake up at 2a.m. if there is sugared coke and chips in the house with the devil on one shoulder saying, "Go ahead, a couple won't hurt ya." Then the angel on the other is saying,"You know you can't just eat one!" Well, how did I do it? I really try to live by, "we are what we eat." If I feel the need to indulge, I indulge on healthy things. Fortunately, there are a number of things I enjoy eating that will not pack on another person. For me, it's so much a matter of access. If it's not around, it's sooo much easier. If I am REALLY craving something, I will indulge rarely. From experience, if I keep denying myself, I will be doomed to fail. One thing I tell myself when confronted with all that is out there in food land is: It is a matter of quality, not quantity. Also, I do bike, swim, and do some resistance stuff at the Y. I'm going to participate in my first ever bike race this fall. I just tipped into the "Senior" category! How did that happen??? Take care all. Rand
