A few years ago I was a patron of LeCage Follies, a theater that

featured totally nude strippers. Between the live shows they had

gay porn movies to watch. I am planning a trip to DC soon and wonder

if the place is still in business.

You're actually mixing up the names of two places. One is the Follies, which is the place you describe. The other is La Cage (formerly La Cage aux Follies), which is a bar that features strippers on the bar tops. I've only been to La Cage once, since I'm not into the bar scene), but I've been to the Follies countless times. I was just there a few weeks ago.

The strippers are only there on Friday-Sunday, with shows at Noon, 3, 6, 9 and midnight. Movies show other times in the theater, and there's a dark area in the back to play, with various niches, and a raised platform to climb up to for more play. There's a "maze" in the place also, most of which is quite dark for those anonymous encounters. There are other videos playing in parts of the maze.

Hope that helps!

It's SO nice to hear that debauchery is still alive and well in the shadow of the nation's Capitol!

(For those of you unaware of DC's geography, these clubs are all just blocks from the US Capitol building.)

The stripper scene in DC was just never the same once the Chesapeake House closed. It was a skanky bar across from what's now the DC convention center, but it sure was the scene of some fun times "in the day". It's making me feel old to think that I actually sucked Jeff Stryker's cock at the 'Peake. But he and I both are still going strong. :D

Kind of a long walk, in a very shall we say "seedy" neighborhood from the Capitol to O street SE, don't you think? I never knew that Jeff Stryker danced at the Chesapeake and it's nice to learn that! Those were indeed the good old days in DC! Nothing in that area now but sterile offices and empty streets after sundown. I always liked the Lone Star myself. :-)

Yeah, that "seedy" neighborhood had actually improved a lot last time I visited DC. Still, I walked from the Navy Yard Metro stop to La Cage and walked QUICKLY. x(

Stryker didn't actually dance at the Chesapeake. He did make a "personal appearance" promoting a video and wandered around nekkid on top of the bar, squatting for tips.

Those WERE the days. Nobody had heard of AIDS yet, so the performers got prety liberal with what you got for a dollar tip.

I actually lived through the coming to awareness period of AIDS watching the rules change at the Chesapeake. First they stopped allowing blowing the dancers on the bar. Then they stopped allowing touching their crotches. There was a brief time right before they closed where they'd throw you out if you even touched a dancer's butt.

Auggie was pretty cool with me most of the time. Maybe because he knew I was letting some of his more prominent customers blow me in the bathroom for 50 bucks? LOL A barely-20 Marine with a big dick could get away with a LOT in those days. LOL

Well, well, well I did not know all my old 'homeys' were on this board! Deej, I must say the more you find out about you, the more I like you! Marine, huh, now that is HOT! Were you stationed at the 8th Street SE barracks?

Hey Gringo,

Of course I remember the Eagle on 9th Street and MansWorld next door and the Eagle in Exile across the street at the old bank building! I loved Don Bruce and his dad too! Don was always so nice to me, he always used to come up and tell me "smile more, you're the hottest guy here". I still have a wooden nickel from the 9th street Eagle!

I always started the night at the Eagle, all decked out head to toe in leather or army or cowboy gear and would amble down the street to the Hideaway, Louis and the Rogue to see the drag show. I absolutely loved Susan St. James as she was my favorite! Remember Steve the waiter at the Hideaway and big dicked Eddie, the bartender? LOL, one night I climbed behind the bar and licked his boots from toe to knee! After closing hours, I ended up either at the after hours breakfast at Louis or the Eagle in Exile or trashing around all night at the original Follies and sometimes at Bob&Ediths on Colombia Pike in Arlington.

Thanks for all the memories guys. Perked me right up tonight!!

Sorry Deej, I promised to use that keyboard for all :) faces! What was unique about the Hideaway location Gringo? I know it was below ground across from the new Hoover FBI building (not there then of course) at 9th and PA Ave, and that you had to stand at the top of the stairs until your eyes adjusted to darkness after coming in from the outside during daylight hours. Remember how you had to cut thru the kitchen from Louis and take the stairs down to the mirrored dance floor? LOL, one time I tripped on the top step (not drunk just poor lighting and tumbled all the way to the bottom!). :)

I have never been to Wet. Many years ago there was a restaurant and disco on that spot, which I used to go to all the time, but for the life of me can't remember the name of right now. I love dance boy bars and unfortunately the only ones left in DC are in that area of SE. It was a bad high crime area in 1976 and is even more so now. Deej is a much braver man than me, as I wouldn't even want to ride the Green Line train to the Navy Yard and walk over there, much less drive and try to find a parking place, just to come out and find your car broken into and/or get mugged on the way to your car. Finding a cab to take you down there is easy and the way to go, but unfortunately finding a cab to bring you home afterward is damn near impossible, which is why I won't go down there.

I recently lived in DC for several years. And I went to both La Cage and the Follies many, many (and too many) times. I never felt scared for my safety. There were always so many people and activity there. The only problem I ever had at times was trying to find a parking spot. But the places can be real fun!

i live a 2 1/4 hr drive north of dc, and used to drive down on occasion before i discovered toronto. i felt the same way you did safety-wise, but a friend of mine did have his car window broken one new years' eve. he had parked on the lower end of the street that ran parallel to the main st, i think it was O street. i seemed to like "secrets" the best, esp after the no touching the dancers came into practice. from what i've read either here or on the muscle service station board, that is now the place where it might be loosening up enough that you can have the most fun.

Wow! I hadn't thought of Bob & Edith's in YEARS!

I lived right around the corner on Courthouse Road, so it was a frequent stop. Used to routinely bump into dancers from the Chesapeake that hadn't hooked up that evening. Most of them didn't fare well outside of club lighting. But there were a few absolute knockouts.

I hooked up at Bob & Ediths almost as often as at the Chesapeake! :7

Hey, VA, would that have been the Lost and Found? I never went, but I've certainly heard about it.

I go down there often on Saturday nights, and though I used to take the metro (I have a couple of interesting stories about that!), I now take a cab every time. I always leave before 2 a.m. and I never have a problem finding a cab to take me back to Dupont Circle. I just stand outside between Secrets and the Washington Health Club, and a cab usually shows up within minutes. Only once did I have trouble finding a cab, I ended up walking up South Capital Street to Nation and catching a cab from there.

Thanks, I've been trying to remember the name all day. You would think I could remember as many times as I went there. Thanks for the taxi info, as I haven't down there in around a year, but had

difficulty as I stayed till the 3am closing. I should go down there soon, as I like teasing with the boys at the dance bar. }(

Ah, nostalgia. Does anyone remember the name of the hustler bar next to the Trailways Bus depot. I picked up my first sailor there. It was great fun. We each thought we had to pay each other. The Cheasepeak and the Lone Star will always have a place in my heart. I always liked the fact the Lone Star was across from the Hoover bldg. I often wonder if J. Edgar would have ever dressed up and float across the street. The DC scene of the 70's and early 80's still cannot be reproduced, except maybe in Rio.

>To quote from an old song. "Those were the days my friends

And another song (from the same composer, I think):

THE BEST OF TIMES IS NOW....

:D

Or a slightly darker take:

For the sun will rise, and the moon will set,

And you'll learn how to settle for what you'll get.

It'll all go on if we're here or not,

So WHO CARES? SO WHAT?

:+

(don't get me started on showtunes. Even *I* don't like me when I'm quoting showtunes.)
