If you have Verizon Fios then you can view it through NBC On Demand.

Time-Warner Cable is also carrying it in On Demand.

It's also available for free download from iTunes for those using iPhone or iPad.

NBC is pulling out all the stops to make sure people see it.

Well first I promoted American Horror Story, and Jessica Lange so far has won every award she was nominated for, for her portrayal of Constance. the spooky, slightly off, nosy neighbor with many secrets.... A modern day Blanche DuBois

So odds are my thick sense about SMASH will pay off as well ?

I'll watch just about anything with Anjelica Houston in it. She's one of my all time favorite actresses. This looks like a program I'm going to want to watch.

Saw the whole pilot twice on recent AA flights (their inflight is all NBC, generally boring, but seeing Angelica Houston on screen, I put in the ear pieces and listened. Plot comes across well, and acting is stronger than I would have expected, thiugh not of the calibre of the ensemble work of a "Downton Abbey"! Still was interesting but I do winder how they can keep this up for a full season? Hope it works.

Adriano, I dont think the show aspires to be a Dowton Abbey.? Obviously not a period piece, but a very contemporary story that our generation can connect with. Any show with VISIBLE, well writen GAY characters in its cast is a must watch for me. NBC is pulling out all the stops with this one in hopes it will save their network.

So far, the reviews I've seen are great. And as has been said, NBC is putting everything into this. The pedigree of the cast is certainly stellar: producers of How to Succeed in Business, composer/lyricist for Hairspray, Steven Spielberg, I think the cast works: Debra Messing is perfect, how can anyone not see Anjelica Houston as a cuthroat Broadway producer, Megan Hilty and Katherine MacPhee have the chops to carry it off I think. But I just saw a review in the LA Times that hinted at a couple of other cast additions to come later in the season: Bernadette Peters to play Megan Hilty's mom. And remember in the first casting scene when they asked about an established star to play Marilyn? It will be Uma Thurman.

I have high hopes for this show and can't wait.

They'll also be doing some "stunt" casting hoping to drag in more of an audience.

They're bringing in Nick Jonas (the pretty Jonas) as "an entertainment persona" with money who gets wooed by Anjelica Houston to fund "Marilyn". Jonas has Broadway chops. He's done West End (Les Miz) and he just replaced (or soon will) Darren Criss in "How to Succeed...", but let's face facts: they're wooing the tweens.

That's another good point. It's Debra Messing with a gay man as her best bud. I fear some will think it's like "Will and Grace" but with music. <chuckle>

Well, I'm taking the plunge tonight. My usual karaoke night. And I'm going to start with Let Me Be Your Star. I love that song. If that song is indicative of the quality of the original music for the show, it should be great.

After seeing chopped up versions of the PILOT for "SMASH" on flights in recent weeks, I decided to give it a more serious look, and tonight's NBC showing was no disappointment at all.

To see the cast -- all great in their roles - was a treat.

Katherine McPhee has both a phenomenal voice and amazing presence on the TV screen; she is matched by the completely different and yet just as great performance by Megan Hilty - each one brings something different and fresh to the role of "Marilyn" and you can see either one as the star, which helps move the drama forward.

I havce already registered my appreciation and love for anything that Angelica Houston does, and it is so great seeing her back on the screen Ialbeit TV). Her character so fits her.

Debra Messing also is absolutely terrific, though I have to say, the character is a little bit like her "Grace" but then - hey I liked her then too.

Jack Davenport's character as the show's director/choreographer is great too (and he is easy on the eyes)

I also liked Christian Borle's character development -- very realistic and not over the top.

And Raza Jaffrey as the character who plays boyfriend to Katherine McPhee's Karen -- nice touch -- especially liked when he had his shirt off (hey, this is a gay forum!!)

While some critics panned the role played by Jaime Cepero, I was not that negative about it - actually enjoyed the times he was on the screen.

The "look ahead" on the iTunes download showed Borle's character in bed with Davenport, I think. (It went by so fast you didn't have to blink to miss it.) From the tension between them, you wouldn't see that coming. (Oh, please.)

Cepero's character has a creepy bent, from what I've read. Likes to listen at the door and isn't afraid to take advantage of the juicy bits he learns. Houston's character develops a habit of throwing martinis in her ex's face, and nobody can pull that off like Anjelica Houston.

Every character in this show is being shaped to have its own drama and twists.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this season develop.

If they keep up the writing, this is going to be a show to watch every week. Messing is at her best. Houston? I have yet to see her do anything I don't enjoy watching her in, even if the part is rotten. This part fits her like a glove. The martinis, the way she walks down a hall. I'm looking forward to wherever this show is headed.
