This is why I love the forums. I am a newbie, and it never occurred to me not to tip. My first time I gave 40%. My second, 30%. My third, 20%. All to the same guy. He's always very appreciative and does work very well with me. However, after reading this thread, I'm thinking that I've been inappropriate, and he may actually be a bit insulted. I'm seeing him again next week. Now, what do I do? Do I discuss this openly? Do I just tip less or not at all? Do I substitute a gift. What do I do now!? As I said, he's all of the good things--receptive, nonjudgmental, willing to try new things, not a clock watcher. Any help would, of course, be much appreciated.

You have already started the tipping. Stopping might indicate to him that he is not doing a good job. If you feel comfortable I would continue the 15-20% tip. I really doubt he is insulted with the tip!!!!!!!

May I suggest presenting a nice Muffin basket ? Nothing says "Satisfaction" like and assortment of homemade sweet and savory Treats.

tipping is greatly appreciated as well as gifts. when it comes to tipping, cash is KING, thank you for your generosity................HOWEVER, if an escort bum rushes to get the job over with and you are not really satisfied, or cuts corners to shorten the session, then THOSE INDIVIDUALS shouldn't be tipped. just pay the fee. if you feel you are being short changed, then why tip. FOR THOSE THAT ARE THE REAL DEAL AND GO ABOVE AND BEYOND then please show then appreciation.

My view is tipping is reserved for low wage service jobs like waiters and bartenders. I consider escorts to be highly paid professionals. I don't tip my doctor, my lawyer, my accountant, the exterminator, a plumber etc. Now the exception to that is for going above and beyond or for exceptional service. If, for example, an escort drove far on his own time to meet me for an appointment (and didn't charge me for it) I would most definitely tip.

Well said. My sentiments exactly.

We show our APPRECIATION by paying them their requested FEES. For escorts in the $300 per hr range, thats more than enuf. I really cant see what "above and beyond" he could do to warrant more than that? However, its really an individual decision, and if I ever saw an escort that "Expected" a tip, i wouldnt be seeing him again.

In my honesty, I admit jjkrkwood's comments should be considered in contemplating tipping a "hire". As I see a limited number of rentboys, and, the boys can be considered my steady "dates", I tip with the thought in the back of my mind that, being that I do not delude myself that the boys are "doing me" out of love and affection, "TIP" is, after all, an acronym for "To insure promptness", and, thereby, the expectation of a tip prompts "good service".

Gentlemen, gentlemen, it is true that this has been dealt with before - actually not that long ago if my (failing) memory serves. There are a lot of things at play in this issue - not the least of which is that this is often an emotional decision made when one is awash in endorphins from a good time. "He gave me really good head, er service." Or, "That was one helluva fine fuck. Excellent service = tip." But remember that this is a service industry from the get go. The fee charged IS for services rendered. There are no surprises here, no "gee, I wasn't expecting that. I thought he was here to help me clean my carpets and we wound up in bed having the most fabulous time." No, gentlemen, everything is largely already a foregone conclusion. On the other hand, some posters have listed above some situations where things are beyond the norm, although I don't think anyone mentioned anything that went beyond the realm of foreseeable possibilities. But if you truly feel that the service was just so beyond the pale of human experience, then by all means tip. I wonder if Yo Yo Ma expects a tip after a particularly fine performance. I too was always taught that you don't tip the owner of a shop - such as a barber shop. You also don't tip doctors, lawyers,or plumbers (maybe if the plumber offers services like Chase Hunter in "Basic Plumbing" that would be different. On the other hand if my plumber pulled that stunt on me, I'd think about charging him - he's straight and I'd be thinking maybe I was offering him an educational experience, a broadening of his horizons, and believe me, my plumber is no Prince Charming in the looks department).
