Just wondering if anyone here has any issue with a TV show such as the new one coming out called "Work It", which depicts two guys dressed up as women in order to get a job. It seems that GLAAD is not happy with it and my initial thinking is that its an overreaction but perhaps I'm missing something and there are things maybe I should be considering and just don't see.

"The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Human Rights Campaign have ratcheted up their campaign against the upcoming ABC comedy "Work It.""

"The two groups took their argument to the pages of Variety on Tuesday, placing a full-page ad saying the show makes fun of the transgendered."

"The ad, titled "Message to ABC: 'Work It' Will Harm Transgender People," argues that the series, which portrays a pair of men who disguise themselves as women in order secure employment, will encourage mockery."

I am 1000% Gay and I am NOT offended. Its a comedy, and I view it as entertainment.

I dont get these people that annoint themselves as "watchdogs" and tell us what we can and cannot watch.

Does it portray a negative image of GAY ??? Only if your mind sees it that way. If you take it at face value, its humorous. Men have been doing DRAG for centuries. Would GLADD have had a problem with Milton Berle in his drag persona ? Or Flip wilson ?

Come on, lighten up and find something else to waste your time on other than GAY PATROL !

Actually saw the 1st episode and was not at all offensive (hell if you want to see men dressed too often as women, watch Italian night time TV -- there are many actors in Italy who have made quite a reputation for themselves playing transvestites/...)

My one comment was I thought a) the two guys looked way too butch and masculine for the female get-ip; and b) the jokes were so lame I doubt this will make it to a full season.

Think the GLAAD people should get a life.

Well I wouldn't get too worked up about it. By every article I've seen, the show got such horrific ratings it won't make it more than another week or two. If that much.

They seemed to be a variant of Bosom Buddies. But these guys are no Tom Hanks or Peter Scolari.

groups like GLAAD and the many hundreds of other advocates "protecting" all kinds of "persecuted" segments of society have to look like they're doing their job.....

can't take yourselves too seriously, folks....

Yup, exactly right. Plus the old adage of "all publicity is good publicity" applies here. Groups like GLAAD and HRC are always fundraising, 24/7/365. By their incessant indignation, they maintain their prominence in the public eye, and far more important, in their donors' minds.

Yeah. We probably should be offended, but the offense is the lack of creativity and yet another bad remake.
