That will depend on the type of test and a bunch of other factors.

NAT viral load tests can bring down the window period to something like two weeks or even less.

There is a viral load test, which has a window of seven to ten days. It can be expensive and the waiting time for results can be as long as a few weeks. If you live in Southern California, there is a research study that is offering the viral load test at no charge. Here is a link to their web site:

If you are concerned about your HIV status and feel you can discuss the matter with your physician, do so right away. Otherwise, contact your local LGBT center or county/city board of health.
