I have not had so much fun at the movies since I was 12. Not being a particular fan of Tom Cruise or a Mission Impossible zealot, I still look to be entertained, and I sure was.

The reviews had said that 30 minutes of MI was filmed in IMAX, so with all of the special effects and stunts it was important to see the IMAX version to enjoy it to the max, so to speak. I am glad I did. IMAX seats were meant for short movies, but I soon forgot how uncomfy the seat was.

The show started with no fanfare. They didn't say if we were watching a preview or MI. The scene was absolutely stunning, taking place in the sky with an airplane & hijackers the focus. It was totally captivating- I thought I had never seen such a good movie scene. And, it turns out, it was just a preview for the upcoming Batman movie. Wow.

Wow was heard frequently in the theater as MI played on the screen. The opening scene in Budapest just about topped the preview we had just seen, and the ride was underway. Both sights and sounds were enhanced, but I barely noticed how good the sounds are until the sights lulled a minute. A scene in Dubai at the tallest skyscraper was nothing short of amazing. I cannot imagine what you would miss in regular theaters.

So, I want to convey the excitement of the movie without saying anything about what happens. Just see it...if...you like action movies. Cruise still has nice biceps and I have to hand it to him for doing his own stunts. The movie is a "Tom Cruise Production" showing how far he has come. They seem to make no effort to pretty him up, and the years are showing. You do have to set aside your doubts and just go along for the ride. The plot is hazy, but gosh, what a visual delight.

Lucky's post spurned me to find the 6 minute prologue video because I LOVE BATMAN!!! Go ahead and ask some of the people I've hired. I wear a Batman night shirt to bed.

Anyway I found a poor copy of the 6 minute prologue video and it is subtitled (they speak English but you can barely understand the audio) and there are errors in the spelling BUT who's picky....certainly not me...it can be seen here...until YouTube pulls it down

Did the title of this thread do it in? Perhaps folks thought it was just about the trailers for these movies.

Given how much I liked the IMAX version of Mission Impossible, I would think others would also be writing about it.

Of course, that's what I get for thinking!

Just speaking for myself, I haven't seen any movies this month. It's a busy time of the year. After Christmas I hope to find the time.
