A lawsuit, brought by players who were disqualified from a 2008 tournament because they weren't gay, was settled today. The league has a rule of only 2 straight players per team. The problem is these guys were bisexual and weren't considered gay enough. I'm glad it has been settled but I must say I'm a bit troubled by the rules on 2 straight players per team. Even if these guys were straight, don't we need as many allies as possible? I know what they are trying to do: trying to eliminate straight ringers. But I think this is the wrong way to go about it. And how do they prove it? Group fuck the other teams?

I think that the idea of a gay softball league to help unite a community is nice but impractical in terms of rules limiting the number of non gay players. Linking such leagues to other gay activities such a raising money for gay supporting charities and support groups might help sort the gay allied from the ringers or at the very least it might recruit more people into helping out gay charities.

The league organizers in this case were probably short sighted at best and sore losers at worst in allowing this to go to court. Some people take their softball seriously.
