Dont let Paula Deen hear you

Paula Deen should be banned from "good for you Southern cooking". :) She is a leading proponent of too much fat, salt and sugar. :( I have been to the casino in Tunica which has a buffet featuring her "style" of cooking and it was too much for even one "event". I had to disregard and avoid most of the food offered and I am not that picky except when it is only too, too much of the "bad" stuff.

Best regards,

KMEM

DG Isn't this meat-n-three sorta like the ol "Blue Plate Special" that you used to get alot when traveling through the South years ago...alot of these small towns used to have them. Just tons of great food for just a few dollars?

Yep, "Blue Plate Special" and "Meat-n-Three" are pretty much the same things by different names.

If UPS loses it, head to Sylvia's in Harlem.

Been there a few times, and enjoyed it, but think that it really doesnt live up to its hype.... However those who dont know better wont know the difference....so I wont tell em....

My concept of the Blue Plate Special is that it is just one meat and 2-3 vegetables. The Meat-n-Three is has more variety. It's sorta like a buffet line without the steam tables and with portion control.

There was a place in Northport Alabama, just across the bridge from Tuscaloosa called, The Northport Diner. They had a meat-n-three lunch for $4.99 Monday-Saturday, closed on Sunday. But better yet, after 2 PM, they also offered 5 veggies for $2.99.

Now believe me when I say, you got all the MEAT you needed in the 5 veggies plate.

I was also going to ask what a "meat-n-three place" was. And the answer was not what I expected.

Me too! I thought for sure that "Meat-n-three place" was an Atlanta gay bar, gym or sex club! Go figure.

lol...that is very funny! Up here in Ecotopia we do not have such things and I would have come to the same conclusion.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, we are bogging down in discussions about food - so much talk of meat, peas, carrots and corn and absolutely no word about chocolate! I don't get you guys at all. If there is no decent chocolate dessert on the menu, who cares what the vegetables are?

Now then, I do come here to learn things and I have just had a graduate school level course in how to meet guys from PK. I must say, you seem like quite the operator. I especially like the line about learning to fake sincerity. Then too the business about asking directions in front of your own home to strike up a conversation with a hot guy - well that's just classic. If it came to anything, how did you ever explain as you guided this sweet unsuspecting young thing up your front steps how you came to need directions? Really, we must meet - there is much you could teach me, I'm sure!

I agree with you. It was good, but would be nothing extraordinary down here at all. Just more expensive.
