Has anyone stayed at the Swissotel in Chicago? I'm planning a two night get-away and booked a king room there. For the second evening I have secured the services of a hot escort. I always try to find a hotel with rooms that are classy, spacious and have a warm, comtemporary ambiance(sp?). I believe this hotel is supposed to have great city views, as well as marble bathrooms with glassed in showers. I was just wondering if any of you has stayed at this hotel and what your experience there was like.

Yes I did several times and I liked this place a lot, I highly recom-

The bathroom of the cornerrooms are great!

If it's anything like the Swiss Hotel in Boston, it should be great. Generally, chain hotels maintain the same standards all over. If you ever get the chance, stay at The Westin Hotels. Whenever a client of mine visits St. Louis, I always recommend that one for it's spacious contemporary feel.

I haven't been in the hotel.

I know they took over a building that used to be a Days Inn and did a MAJOR retrofit. I suspect it's now as fabulous as any of their other properties. They don't do anything half-way.

You can't go wrong here. This is a great hotel. The higher up you are in the Hotel the better. The Bathroom was awesome with a glass shower.

The Concierge set us up with dinner reservations at Smith & Wolinski and the resturant manager came over and offered us complimentary wine with dinner. Nice touch! It pays to get friendly with the hotel staff.

You'll love this property!;)

I love Swissôtels & Westins. I love those featherbeds with down pillows, I love big bathrooms, I love...OK, that's it. I need to plan another trip right now! I've got the 4-star hotel bug again. :p

Deej,

I think you mean the W Lakeshore which was originally a Days Inn looking right down Navy Pier. It is great though. I love W Hotels.

I thought the Westin "heavenly bed" thing was a joke until I stayed a week at San Francisco's

Westin St. Francis on Union Square. Never slept better in my life, truly. Picking just the right

pillow, among many choices, was a ridiculous luxury.

Barry's right. The Swisshotel was newly built about 15 years ago. It's triangular footprint caused some pretty funny double takes. If you were on Randolph Street just south of the hotel, You would only see two dimensions! It appeared to be just a panel of mirrored glass with nothing supporting it. Since other buildings have been added, it's hard to get that affect now, but I used to enjoy telling tourists how they had started building this building, but suddenly stopped and left just that one huge side standing. I haven't been there in a while, but Swisshotels are certainly known for their hospitality. Swisshotel briefly had a restaurant in Chicago that was outstanding.

The W Lakeshore is one of two new W's which opened recently in Chicago. The Lakeshore property was a Days Inn that was formerly a Holiday Inn. I don't know if the revolving restaurant the building was famous for back when those things were popular is still there, but It is supposed to have large rooms (which is unusual in W properties I've been in) and all W's are great experiences in themselves. They can be a bit pretentious with a bit too much emphasis on the "Look at me, I'm cool, but don't actually LOOK at me. I'm too far above you for you to Look at me" crowd.

When it was a Day's Inn, the neighborhoot was underdeveloped, with a lot of empty or underdeveloped railroad land. (Chicago was unique in having a huge area of vacant land just waiting for development smack in a great location. Of course some of the development has left a bit to be desired, but some of it's great ) Now the area's getting crowded with new highrises, townhouses and other developments.

You might also check out the Rennassaince. On the outside it looks like a pre-fab concrete highrise built in the 70s and remodeled in the 80's. Inside it's pretty nice. The one bedroom suites I've been in are much larger than my fairly large one BR condo and it's very tastefully done. Their high-end nouvelle mediterranean restaurant is sadly now only open for breakfast (and I assume serving more traditional menus, but I'm only assuming that). It also has a large restaurant, "Great Street" that a good menu, the best buffet/salad bar I've ever seen (and I'm not a buffet fan) and very friendly attentive staff.

Enjoy your trip!

I agree. I stayed in the W Chicago City Center in May, and I thought is was great. The featherbed was awesome!

There was also a crusiy restroom on the ground floor that appeared to be quite popular with the after-work happy hour crowd. :-)

You're right. I was thinking of the W.

Usually when people are asking me about Chicago hotels, they're looking for cheap and near boystown so I don't often think about the larger, more luxurious offerings. :-(

It makes sleeping after a fun night of sex a continuation of sheer pleasure!!! Gee, I wonder if I could go into commercial endorsement for Westin.....

LIGHTS FADE UP

"Hi , I'm gabe, I'm not an escort on TV, but I play one in real life. Whenever I want my clients spoiled, where do I send them?...The Westin International....with pillows you can melt into, beds the comfort of a cloud, and elegance to make even the most discreet encounter something to write home about. The Westin....they and I think a lot alike...it's all about pampering the guest...."

Gabe,

About the Westin in St. Louis, you're right, very nice and unique place! I would highly recommend it to everyone reading this. The Sheraton across from the SAVVIS Center is interesting, too. The decor is not quite as nice as the Westin, however, the rooms are HUGE and comfortable. Like the Westin, it is in a rehabbed buiiding. Very interesting!
