>nice thing about anyone, I think my monitor would implode.

I merely speak the truth, and it's usually in response to the most pompous, self-righteous, overblown egos here. There are MANY (most, really) posters here that get two thumbs up from me, and who have never been on the other side of a "bitchy" remark from me. You want "nice" for the sake of "nice"? There's enough of that here. You probably miss the old Rosie O'Donnell, too. :+

Enough kiss-ass stuff is said on these forums, and here's one more: I LUV Donnie.

I'd forgotten that quote. Thanks, it made me laugh real hard.

Gleefully yours,

You know Donnie, I should probably cut you some slack. It must be difficult being a 54 year old man who still lives with his elderly bed-ridden mother and her six cats. If I were you, I'd probably be cranky all the time too.

Give Matilda my best.

Maternally yours,

No I don't want nice for the sake of nice and I have never been able to stomach Rosie in any of her incarnations, but - it would be "nice" to read the odd comment from you where you didn't stick it to someone.

Like one in ten would be "nice".

Oh yeah, I forgot that one. The one about "you must be an old lonely queen living with his mother" is right up there with "take your meds" as the all-time lamest, most over-used internet message board comebacks. Good one, F.

But then it wouldn't be a "Donnie" post. I have a brand to protect. :*

His death is truly a loss in many ways. He was one of the few truly liberals left in DC. I personally see little difference between todays Democrat and Republican parties. There are very few "Liberals" left in the Democratic party and even fewer Rockefellar "Republicans".

I never vote straight party and find it naive to think all Republicans or all Democrats are always right just because of a party label. I have voted for many Democrats and Republicans and firmly believe you need both to dabate and balance power in this country.

It's just very sad that there are few Liberals left to balance out the extremes of the Right and now there is one less.

Is the sky falling? This comes dangerously close to a personal revelation and I (shaking my head in bafflement) actually agree with Donnie. (God that sounds weird!)

My very best friend, a man I’ve known for over twenty years, is a rabid Log Cabin Republican. We have debated and argued this topic until we are blue in the face and I’ve even gone to a couple of fundraisers with him in order to meet others. I will never, ever understand it.

Our monthly argument goes like this:

Jeff: “The Democrats are ruining this country with social programs and regulations based on their belief that they know what is best for everyone.”

Me: “As opposed to the Republicans who like to save all those regulations for interfering in citizen’s private lives.”

Jeff: “I don’t understand how you can be in a party with all those knee-jerk liberals and misguided tree huggers.”

Me: “It beats being in a party that allows itself to be dominated by the religious right and where you are not even welcome by the majority of its members.”

Jeff: “I think it is important to work as a gay Republican to change the party from within. I will help them to become more inclusive.”

Mike: “Wouldn’t it be better to work to make the Democratic party more fiscally conservative since they are already willing to include you?”

Jeff: “I won’t let my sexuality become the primary influence on my politics. I don’t vote as a gay man”

Mike: “No, you let money be the primary influence on your politics. You vote as a well-off white guy.”

Then we have another bump and argue about something else.

Hey Guyz! A BIG thanks to all who shared their feelings of bereavement. Yeah, he was an amazing TRUE original and they appear, in whichever party, only very rarely. :(

Being his usual OVER exuberant self :-) :-) :-) , by now he'd want the black crepe to be replaced with equally exuberant political polemic. }>

(Allow me just one more Paul story). Others here have correctly assessed his integrity and have accurately characterized him as TOTALLY honest and never bending to the polls. He was also determined to MAKE POLITICS FUN! His 5'5" college wrestler's stance, his egg-beater hairdo, his animated body language, his infectious smile...all made him uniquely suited to restoring politics to a position which, IMHO, it deserves in our society. ;-)

I've copied all the well-wishes here (appropriately edited) and forwarded them in email to the Wellstone campaign "estate". They'll be added to the many other condolences. :*

One more personal note: this thread has proved to me that posters here are kind-hearted and well-meaning. I'll always remember it. :-)

OK, FFF, are you ready for combat? :+

For those who are not fooled by the Democrats/Liberals or the Republicans/Consertavitives shit there is always http://www.lp.org. Though the LP is a perversion of my philosophy of Objectivism it is the closest thing we have. It is amazing how someone suddenly becomes 'Great' after he dies. Wellstone was nothing until he died. Just like Kennedy. The greatest thing he ever did was get assinated and that wasn't even his accomplishment.
