Hey Guys;

I'm going to post this in "Ask An Escort" as well....Looking for a few pointers on working in Dubai?

I was recently offered a 3-4 month gig there (in my "other job") & was curious if anybody has worked as an escort there? I'm trying to get as much info (and varied as well), before committing to this..

Any help would be appreciated from both the escort & client side.

Thanks!

Ace, mate, don't even think about it, attempting to escort there that is. Also, under no circumstances have any kind of 'activity' with a local. It's extremely risky even with the ex-pat and tourist communities. :(

For God's-sake, a British heterosexual couple got gaoled there last year for having a quick kiss in a restaurant, check this link for details.

I used to travel there a couple of times a year. If I can help with further info. feel free to PM me.

Best

Richard

I see the occasional ad on Rentboy for an escort in Dubai, but yikes! I can't even begin to think about risking it, whether as a client or an escort. Google Lee Bradley Brown, then see if you're still interested in escorting in Dubai. Apparently, Brown was involved in a dispute with a housekeeping maid. She came into his room unexpectedly, and he went berserk (started screaming and maybe even physically assaulting her). He was thrown into jail, denied food and water, and beaten mercilessly until he died six days later. Since I can't find the link where I first learned of this (a more extensive article), I posted a link which had the most graphic account of what happened to him. After hearing that story, I wouldn't even go to Dubai as a tourist, forget working as a gay escort. Not that I plan on going berserk on a housekeeping maid or anything like that, but if so, I think that presumption of innocence and a fair trial are warranted, not a de facto death penalty.

Oh, but apparently there are legal, or at least semi-legal, (strictly hetero) brothels in Dubai. Go figure.

Hi BSR,

I always assume that ads for Escorts in countries where homosexuality is illegal are sting operations. Certainly, in one country I know it's a couple of policemen who've discovered gay Escort sites. You book the 'Escort' who comes to your hotel room, you and he are only just stripping off when a uniformed cop comes through the door saying he's received a complaint from the hotel. You fork out a large wad of dosh to buy your way out, he 'arrests' the Escort and they both leave with the equivalent of 3-months salary each. The hotel will know nothing about it but one of the staff will have got a cut for the use of their passkey!

No, it wasn't me, the mark was a business colleague. :(

Amen to the advise above. Also, don't try to access this site or any site that might involve porn or anything sexual. They censor the internet there and monitor where the searches come from. I had a professional colleague who worked there, and still does, and he was warned by his employer to be very careful what he did on the internet. Telephone calls made by visitors are also often monitored. Be conservative in dress... and I would not recommend wearing a bikini swim suit or anything else in public that might show off your body. Interesting city/country to visit, but only if you can adapt to their ways, customs and views of life.

dubai is safe if you're with the right group or if connected people hire you. there's a large underground scene there, but i agree with others here who have said it can be dangerous for a rookie. I don't recommend trying to escort there if you don't already have clients in place.

Ace,

I 'phoned a gay acquaintance who has a house in Dubai (I owed him a call!). He spent years there, consulting on shopfitting. He seriously advises you against going unless your dick needs a holiday as well! He echoed exactly what Divderdan and SD have inferred, that while he wouldn't be surprised if an Escort had "made out like a bandit", he "bets" they had a rich or powerful (or more likely both) friend or businessman in tow.

He warned that if you arrive with a big box of condoms and a tube of KY (lube), you'll find yourself on the next plane home. As Diverdan has pointed out, do not access anything on a computer that could be viewed as remotely controversial, even from free hotel wifi. You will undoubtedly be subject to more scrutiny than if you were a family-of-four on a 10-day package holiday. A lone guy, staying for 4 months, may well be interrogated and searched thoroughly () on landing.

If you are taking a laptop ensure there is nothing incriminating on it (including browser history!) at Arrivals in Dubai, ditto if you have a smartphone. If they check and find such things you could be accused of trying to import pornography.

Healthwise, if you need to take any medicines, ensure they have pharmacy labels on them in your name and preferably with a full letter from your doctor naming them, if possible copied to another doctor in Dubai. I hope you're not diabetic! Oh, individuals trying to bring in medicines to treat contagious diseases have been held and summarily deported. Also, be extremely careful with over-the-counter medicines, Brits have been charged with importing hard drugs because they have carried painkillers that contain codeine, which can be bought freely here without prescription.

If you want to avoid all this, fly in First Class on Emirates!

He gave me other points, such as he stressed never, ever get into debt. You will be arrested. He witnessed the crash, and saw long-term ex-pat colleagues rapidly abandon their houses and leave their luxury cars at the airport with the keys in the ignition, when they realised there was a chance they might not be able to meet their bills.

He did mention that there is a blog or forum written by a gay guy living in Dubai. He said it's obvious from reading it that it's a diplomat in one of the Embassies. He can't remember the name and I've done a pretty comprehensive search, and I can't locate it. He's probably been exiled! :(

Dubai has deliberately positioned itself as a conservative desert Disneyland for families and as a business centre. It doesn't want 'us'.

I'm sorry all this is so negative, but hope the above is of some interest while you're making your decision.

Best.

Richard

Rich,

I am glad you mentioned the "rich" and or "powerful" benefactor, and I would add "a member of the royal families", all of whom have different rules by which they live. No doubt there are some gay men in the UAE, but how they survive is beyond me. There is a powerful lesson to be learned in how to accomodate to local culture by studying the UAE, Saudi Arabia and other countries like China too.

Good luck, Ace, if you decide to take the "other job" there for three to four months, but don't be surprised if they have already tried to find out about all your interests and multiple jobs before you arrive. I was surprised by how much they knew about me and the questions they asked me upon arrival, and as well when I departed.

... do not access anything on a computer that could be viewed as remotely controversial, even from free hotel wifi.

In most cases you won't be even able to access these sites because they're automatically blocked by the ISP (not talking about hotel networks).

I remember that HooBoy's site was blocked at the time.

Dubai has deliberately positioned itself as a conservative desert Disneyland ... It doesn't want 'us'.

You need to define what do you mean by 'us'? :) And finally if you think that Dubai is too conservative, I invite you to go to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Gentlemen;

What can I say, but WOW!!!!! I always knew that this forum was a treasure trove of information, (in addition to sex stories & gossip!...lol), but you guys have REALLY outdone yourselves. Thank you SO MUCH for all the input...I've read all your posts multiple times & it looks like I won't be able to take the gig after all, due to too many conflicting "Ace" commitments...(not a BAD thing!)....

I appreciate all the time & effort, phone calls & PM's...YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

(It WOULD be quite the scene if "all this" showed up, with two smart phones, a suitcase full of leather & gear & supplies, etc....).

Thanks AGAIN guys!

If I may add, please practice "safe surfing". Learn about the internet technologies. Use a secure proxy server via https://.

Don't just connect insecurely, as staff who are performing maintenance might stumble upon your data.

With apologies to the the poster; Using a secure proxy server in an arabic country is just about the same as wearing a red shirt to a bull fight.

Oh. I'm just going by our manual which says to call AT&T International Operator, make a 1-800 call to ISP (say Earthlink) on the reverse-bill international circuit, start point-to-point, then securely connect to one of the free-proxy servers which fetch web pages internally.

Free Proxy servers are google-able.

Or, just use Google's cached copy.

I invite you to go to Saudi Arabia...

Been, it was a total shagfest! :p I was on secondment to the Aramco DH camp, where a crowd of military guys were climbing the walls from the lack of women. Oh, the 1970s, those were the days... :)

I have no information on Dubai or any country in the Middle East. It seems to me though that there was someone who used to post on the Forum years ago--whenever anyone put out the warnings on the Middle East---about how gullible so many of us were (he may have said Americans specifically) that he had been all over the Middle East and you just had to be discreet to meet guys. It seems like I remember Turkey being specifically mentioned as a place to find gay activity. But I thought I also remembered people talking about other places in the ME too.
