San Francisco, CA — It’s a 7-day, 545 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that raises money and awareness for the HIV and AIDS services of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. This marks the tenth year for AIDS/LifeCycle and the eighteenth for the event overall, and during the week of June 5-11, 2011, thousands of Cyclists and volunteer Roadies will come together to do something incredible. Something that will change lives.

All of the them can use your support, Lance in particular needs it. To participate in the ride, he needs to raise $3,000 in donations, and he's a little over halfway there. Come on Sacramento, show him your love!

Sorry daddy -- I didn't see the sticky you had here so I started another thread which I have asked to be deleted.

Guys -- each of you are amazing men for taking time to do this. Thank you to each of you.

But as Daddy said, and as David has on his page, it's time to pay it forward and support the one of our riders who hasn't made the $3000 in pledges to ride. Lance is still about $1100 short and needs our support so I've made my donation to support Lance. David, thank you for the suggestion. You know I love you and your message told me it was okay to support another one of our riders.

Gentlemen: surely in this group of amazing men that we have on this forum we can raise $1100 to get Lance into the ride. The donations don't have to be made in one contribution -- they can be split into monthly payments which is what I've done. Let's get Lance into the ride.

And FWIW, even though Lance has toured through my home town, we've never met. I think I may have to fix that the next time he's in town.

Lance is now 2/3rds of the way there! Come on Northern California, you know he's going to look good in Spandex!

And he doesn't look too bad out of it either. :)

But it is time for NoCal to step up here. So far today he's gotten contributions that I know of from Virginia and England. We have got to be able to get him the rest of the way home. Time to "Bring Him Home" gentlemen. Bring Him Home.

But the other question I need to ask them is how can a company match be counted towards his total. My company will match my contribution but it won't be there in time to help him get to the 3k needed. Obviously raising the money is the most important thing. But it would be nice if that contribution could be counted too. But remember if you do work for a compoany that offers a match, remember to turn in whatever paperework you need for that too.

Lance still needs $635 in donations to be a part of AIDS/Lifecycle 10!

San Francisco, CA — Six foot four, nipple rings, and a tribal tat! I certainly want to see this stud in a form fitting Lycra shirt. This is the week where we get to push Lance over the $3,000 minimum to be a part of AIDS/Lifecycle 10.

Well he's had a sort of good couple of days. $250 yesterday (Monday). He is only $635 short now.

I've sent an email to the race pelple asking about including the corporate match my compoany will make. I hope they let that be counted too. I'll let everyone know what they say.

Either way, if (when) you make your contribution to push Lance over the top, don't forget to do the paperwork to have your compnay match program donate too.

Guest Rich.

Damn. Damn. DAMN. I should have forwarded my donation to you Lee, or someone else on the Board who has a corporate matching scheme. If you're donating from outside the USA, take note! :(

Donations from matching gifts won't be credited to the rider until they are received by the foundation. Unfortunately my company, in spite of their generosity with the matching funds (and actually being a good friend and supporter of the gay community in town) moves with all the speed of a typical Fortune 500 compnay. Which means their contribution won't be in for quite a few weeks, not enough to help get Lance into the ride. So it's up to us I guess.

I just got off the phone with the SF AIDS Foundation. My company requires first time recipient organizations to fill out the paperwork they need (which includes their 501©(3) form. So I need to send it to them.

If you need to do the same, here's the address to send matching fund requests to:

SF AIDS Foundation

ATTN: Development Department

1035 Market Street

Suite 400

San Francisco, CA 94103

OK LANCE -- YOU'RE IN. NOW RIDE LIKE THE WIND.

Thanks to an exceptionally generous donation by an unnamed purplekow, Lance has just cleared the 3k total and is in the ride. PK -- wow!

David has 4 names of riders on his pledge page who needs support to get into the ride. Now that Lance is in, 2 of them are in. But the other two still need support. They are not "ours". But I would call them to your attention and urge you to consider donating to them in David's name. Omar is less than $200 short but Josh is less than half way home.

It's the cause that is important. Please, donate whatever you can to this enormously important and worthwhile charity and event.

Daddy -- your forum did it. I think asking Lance to wear a Daddy's forum patch is certainly not out of line.

At all.

30 years ago on this day, June 5th, a new virus was discovered ... the HIV.

At the time I'm posting this the 10th Edition of AIDS/LifeCycle is "rolling" and 2361 heros are riding out of Cow Palace in San Francisco to start an incredible journey down to Coast of California raising awareness against AIDS and fighting the stigma.

As the first escort who started this tradition 4 years ago in our small escort community, I thought I'd add a word here. I've done the Ride for three consecutive years and brought my modest contribution for this worthy cause. Different reasons have prevented me for attending this year's event. Nevertheless, I'm there in spirit.

Also, I wanted to add (if Daddy permits) that there are not four, but FIVE escorts taking part in this year's Ride. I remember that last year an overzealous client posted in a thread who the BEST rider out there was, implying that the rest were some kind of second-class Riders. I happened to be online and saw that post which was promptly removed.

I think that there's no such a thing as "the best rider" or "the fastest rider". One person can only achieve so much in this kind of event... what matters is the collective effort of thousands of people ... the ALC community. Community, which "our" five can be proud to be part of.

GOOOOOOO RIDERS !!!

:)

Have a great and safe Ride !

Beautifully put Steven. And thank you for your past rides.

As I posted on the other thread, I exchanged texts last night with David wishing him and all the other riders a safe and incredible journey. They are doing this for all of us.

It must be a tremendous feeling of community, of love, and support out on the ride. As for us, I am proud of the community here on the forum who helped get Lance into the ride. It was the forum members who put Lance over the top (with an incredible push by PK). There really some incredible people on this site. And with that group support, we ride along with them.

I am proud of each of our riders as well as the other 2300+ riders. If you are out along there path, please get out and show them support. I'm sure just seeing people standing at the side of the road cheering them on will be good for a few miles by itesefl.

Good luck and safe journey to all the riders.

My good wishes go to all of the riders, and Daddy, please send my/our best to the 5th rider who prefers his name not to be released. I am proud of all of the 2, 361 riders who are part of this ride... and we should all realize that not all of the riders are gay, but are friends/relatives of many who have died of this disease as well as our escort friends who are riding for us. Thanks, Daddy, for your support and hope that next year we can support even more of those who ride on our behalf. Thanks too, Steven, for your post and to you, Lee, and all the other posters who have helped in this wonderful effort.

Sorry for the delay in posting this but I've been tied up -- and not that way, damn it. I texted David on Sunday night after gcursor's post to encourage him. And any other message he got must have encouraged him because I got a text from David last night that simply said "Amazing Day, Best Ride day in 4 years". They should be close to half way through after today. Good luck guys. We are thinking of you.

Can we give David a surprise?

From Davids Donation Page:

"I wanted so bad to be the top fundraiser this year. I wanted everyone to think I was amazing and good and acceptable. What I should have known was that I am acceptable and loved and cared for by many many people.

So I did not make the big goal of 15000 dollars this year but what can I do about it. Well I can pay whats left over forward. Many riders each year struggle to raise that 3000 Dollar minimum goal and who am I to think that I need to be the best at anything except do my best at being a good team player."

David is only $255 from his goal; Can we get him the rest of the way?

David passed the half way mark a few hours ago. He is fine and said he is "back in his grove". I am going to Los Angeles on Saturday to cheer the riders across the finish line and to attend the closing ceremony

I thought that his selfless effort was humble.

Remember everybody, Yesterday was the day conquering the "Quad Buster". Today is when the riders need encouragement.
