Don't know if anyone happened to watch the Royal wedding or not but, there was a piece of music by Paul Mealor called Ubi Caritas. I found it compelling and was completely intrigued. It'd that for my music collection.

Last month I found this guy: Edward Higginbottom... also had some great chamber choir music.

It's really versitile music... great for making Love, massage, certain bondage scenes and general background music for that half awake half sleeping time in the afterglow of things.

I like to mix it up with my euro erotic dance and club music... like Kate the Cat and Colibri or Sunset blvd, Djako and Steve Osaka.

If you have an appreciation for Chamber music, check out Paul Mealor's music... He has an album out and the whole thing is like $4 and includes the Ubi Caritas.

Tyger,

You continue to impress me with your broad range of tastes.... in everything, and now in music too. I do hope we get to meet in person one of these days. I am a big fan of classical music, show tunes, some pop, some rock, but not country! Thanks for sharing. I did not get to see the wedding, so will go and look for the music, as I heard it was all excellent.

Ubi Caritas Et Amor

Where charity and love are, there God is.

The love of Christ has gathered us into one flock.

Let us exult, and in Him be joyful.

Let us fear and let us love the living God.

And from a sincere heart let us love each other (and Him).

Where charity and love are, there God is.

Therefore, whensoever we are gathered as one:

Lest we in mind be divided, let us beware.

Let cease malicious quarrels, let strife give way.

And in the midst of us be Christ our God.

Where charity and love are, there God is.

Together also with the blessed may we see,

Gloriously, Thy countenance, O Christ our God:

A joy which is immense, and also approved:

Through infinite ages of ages.

Amen.

This so reminds me of Water LBT~ Thanks for the offering. Really beautiful compliment of human voice, heart and the element of water that resounds within. Love the quietness and loudness of it combined together to make harmony~ Quite impressive~

You performed this piece several times? Is that why you sang so well at Monster when we went? Your voice was so strong and impressive.

Thanks Ty. I will check it out.

But for me, he will have to go a long way to pass the Ubi Caritas of Maurice Durufle. I've had the privilege of performing this several times. Even though it's only a couple of minutes, it's a work of sheer beauty.

You might enjoy this one too~ It's Matt Albers: End of The World. I have not watched this one time without breaking down into tears. Connects with me like I can't believe~

(BTW... If I am not mistaken, that is his boyfriend there with him in the video~)

New to me. Beautiful piece. Tiger, thanks for posting.

Well this is a switch - a musical note here. Go to Youtube and search for Ubi caritas by Ola Gjeilo (or Gjielo) - it rivals the Durufle mentioned earlier for beauty.

Thanks Philmusc -- I didn't know that. I prefer the Durufle, but it is indeed very gorgeous. Here it is in a video with the University of Illinois Concert Choir

U of I has a long choral tradition going back decades. In fact it was the former director of choral activities at UofI, Harold Decker, who wrote what probably is to this day one of the definitive books on choral conducting.

But if you will allow me a bit of personal indulgence, I would also like to post one that is intensely personal to me. It's longer than the others, about 8-9 minutes, When David Heard by Norman Dinerstein. Norman was my theory professor in college. He was also a friend to me as well as to many other students. He was an irreverant New Yorker who took nothing except his music seriously. Every year Norman would write one piece for our Chamber Singers. This was the last piece that Norman wrote for us before he left to assume the Charimanship of the Theory and Composition Department at the University of Cincinnati Conservatory. I remember the day we first read it like it was yesterday. We immediately knew it was something very special he had given us. But the sadness of this piece is what I was immediately drawn to 2-3 years later when I heard that he had died from a massive heart attack, a victim of his 3+ pack a day cigarette habit. Dead at the age of 42. A horrible loss. A loss I still grieve for even today. What music he could have given the world had he lived a normal lifespan is unfathomable. What he could have given future musicians and students in his sheer joy of life is perhaps an even bigger tragedy. Sometimes when I forget to treasure each day that we have on earth, I think of Norman. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. Make the most of every day we have. And that may have been the greatest lesson Norman taught me.

My bad. It was absolutely amazing. The music is touching, the singing is great, but for me, it's the simplicity, the "everyday" ordinary language of the song that just gives it the power. Like you, it brings tears to my eyes. It is simple, straight-forward, direct.

And I thank you so much for bringing it to our attention.

He has a beautiful voice, but I'm going to have to listen to it some other time. The ad at the start of the link was "Gimme Shelter," one of my all time favorite tunes. With the Stones in my head, there was no way to give a real listen to Albers.
