That's strange, I've never heard Kobe say anything negative about gay people and I've been fucking him for over a year now.:) I think it's a reasonable penalty...and he can afford it.

Doesn't he make that much in just one game? It's certainly not excessive.

One game? He makes that much putting on one of his socks.

Not that it matters that much, but, for the record, what Kobe right on the call, or was the ref right?

FWIW-

His salary pays about 300,000 per game. Of course, endorsements will pay more. I would assume the fine is after taxes but I don't know that for sure. If so, the 300 turns into about 200, so this fine is about 1/2 of one game's pay.

Best regards,

Oh, sir, it's California, where the state gets 10% of everything, sales & income taxes. So he's losing another $30k to CA.

Bryant deserved the $100,000 fine, but he should NOT be forced to apologize. He should come to that conclusion on his own and only apologize if it is genuine and voluntary. I'm disappointed so many fans are defending Kobe--I wonder what would have happened happen if a white referee had gotten frustrated with Bryant's conduct and had used to "N" word on live network TV?

A lot more than a $100,000 fine!

The use of the "N" word by decent people has decreased drastically over my lifetime. The use of racial slurs was fairly acceptable in the 60's. The civil rights movement made a majority of Americans aware that these slurs are hurtful and unacceptable. Change comes slowly; education takes time.

When people repeatedly hear that it's ok to commit verbal violence against a group of people, some will naturally come to believe it's ok to commit physical violence against them.

Gay bashing and gay teen suicides are encouraged by the casual use of the "Fa" word. The NBA's fine is more of a message to fans and shareholders than to Kobe. Sadly, the $100K is chump change to him.

Yeah, a fine is great (although higher would have been nice). But, if a white announcer or player had used the "N" word, they would likely have been benched, suspended and, for announcers, run out of the business. Where is the equity?
