I'm confused

Referencing Scott Sloan's 6th bad review (out of 6) that was posted tonight, I am totally scratching my head. Not at Mr. Sloan himself and his amazing ability to apparently piss off everyone he comes in contact with. But rather at who hires this guy? I mean, if you posted a review I have to assume you had the knowledge to look at them beforehand. And yes, I get that the 5 most recent reviews are all from first-time reviewers, but I have to believe that at least one or two of them knew about the concept of reviews before their experience with the guy with the great hair, and didn't just jump up afterwards and decide that the world needed to know about this doofus.

 

So what gives?

I agree with your statement "not everyone knows about the reviews site" but doesn't it seem odd (and what's the probability) that one escort gets several negative reviews over a period of time? it just makes one think is all.

Several things come to mind concerning the in-famous Mr. Sloan:

1. He doesn't advertise here in LA under the name Scott Sloan - so even if someone were to check Daddy's Reviews, unless he knew the name Scott Sloan, he wouldn't find out about him until he wrote his own review and saw it on the daily reviews.

2. From reading the M-F, I've learned that escorts pay a premium to appear on page one and two of the Rentboy site. Mr. Sloan is obviously successful enough to be able to purchase position on the first page of Rentboy, month after month. Not many Rentboy surfers are aware that ad placement is based on the amount of money the escort paid for the ad and it's placement.

3. He's focused his ad toward newbies and/or wants to appear to be new to LA, even though he's got four years worth of bad reviews in LA on Daddy's Reviews. So he's perpetrating a con on inexperienced clients who don't really know how to handle the difficult situation he creates.

4. I don't know how to get the word out on Mr. Sloan. Seems that maybe his Daddy's Reviews should cross-reference "Hot College Muscle" in LA or something. But for now, unless you KNOW "Hot College Muscle" = Scott Sloan, you can't find his reviews.

It's unfortunate that a few bad apples tarnish the reputation of the whole industry.

I tend to think that novice clients would come closer to finding him at a review site, than to know that googling phone numbers can turn up pertinent information. But anything to get information out to prospective clients is good information. Maybe we need to do a sticky on Daddy's Reviews - something like a checklist before hiring... Google the phone number.

 

Looking at the Rentboy ad, the map of his address - or whatever it is, is less than 1/2 mile from my house. If I see him, I'll let him know what a piece of trash he really is. But since 750,000 people live within a 1 mile radius of the nearest major intersection, I doubt I'll see him.
