I just wanted to congratulate two forum members for their nominations for the Hookies awards. However, there is only one big problem: the awards ceremony is on the Friday before the Palm Springs weekend. So guys if you go you'd better hurry out to PS.

I've been with at least one from every category. Nice - though a couple of them I would never consider the best in their category - or in escorting in general. I'm sure a lot of choices were just made my superficial views of the profiles NOT that they've actually experienced the escort themselves.

To be honest, I do not put much stock in the HOOKIES as I had a friend who was in them last year (nominated in the best ass category and best foreign or something - and from what he told me, there is a lot of commercialism involved (showing up at sponsored events etc...) and so apparently the voting is not the only thing.

An escort friend of mine reported the same thing last year. To start with, nominees are picked based on advertising volume with rentboy.com. Then, yes, you have to agree to a lot of promotion participation to be included as a nominee.

 

Note too that, this year as last year, the nominees for Best Agency include the scam that calls itself Apollon 21.

 

Sheesh.

DOUBLE SHEESH - I noted that too and was astounded. Sadly, some of my Central European friends' pictures are now on that site, and I will see them next week and ask if they are e ven aware of that.....

It has been brought to my attention that I fucked up -- Royally. One of our newest Hoovillians, Chris, has been nominated in the Best Boyfriend Experience category. Chris, I hope you will accept my humblest apologies for this oversight. An old man's eyesight ain't what it used to be and what it used to be sucked to start with. One hundred lashes with Whipped Guy's best flogger for me. And jgoo, thanks for calling me out on it. And to anyone else, please, when I fuck up -- don't be afraid to call me on it. I don't take offense when I make a mistake and you call me on it. When I screw up, I screw up. Denying it doesn't make the error go away. It just make you look like a bigger idiot. I screwed up. I don't think I'm the only one here who has ever made an error But I can guarantee you this: it won't be the last error of my lifetime either -- unless I die in the next few minutes anyway.

 

So Chris -- congratulations on the nomination. And once again, I'm sorry for the oversight.

imo these things are just like most award things. Porn awards or escorts awards are for the performers to get together and celebrate their craft amongst their peers, eat drink and socialize with their own. Not something that's really taken seriously

Exactly, that right there taints these "awards" to the point that they are obviously meaningless or worse. It gives that scam the air of legitimacy. I wonder how much RB makes in ad revenue from them.

Thanks for noticing Lee! It was a surprise and honor to be nominated for the Hookie awards.... regardless of whether or not I win. Also, I was sure to put my vote in for AJ Irons! I've worked with him before and not only is he a great guy but he totally deserving of the award!

Even though I've not -- yet -- managed to sample either AJ Irons or Chris, I voted for them both. Their reviews speak for themselves, and they're both hot-looking guys.

 

Perhaps in the near future I'll manage to try one or the other or both out. :)
