I believe Frys is a national electronics chain. If not then picture a huge Walmart or Price Club with nearly every imaginable electronic / computer piece of equipment you could think of.

I went to Frys this afternoon to buy some memory and a few software programs. By now I'm sure you, the reader, are nodding off :) .

The items I mentioned were all found and so were literally several scores of very hot twinks. They were all over the place both as employees and customers. All ethnic backgrounds seemed to be represented, Asian and Latin were the in the majority. I ended up spending several hours just twink watching :)

Anyone else have this type of experience or is my life that boring :(

Circuit City would probably be closer than WalMart, etc. Frys doesn't carry dog food, or they didn't last time I was there. ;-)

But, yes, they're usually twink city. Between the clerks who are always young and cute and REALLY into the gadgets they're trying to sell you and their pals who hang around hoping to become clerks, it's like Marc Anthony's personal vision of heaven.

I've always wanted to be in charge of hiring in a gadget store like that. :+

Fry's is only in northern and southern California, Texas, Arizona and Oregon.

At least in the southern Calif. stores, not only does each one have a different theme, decor-wise (i.e., Roman palace, South Seas, etc.), the majority of the workforce in each store seems to be of a different ethnicity. One store is mostly Asian, one is mostly Latino, one is mostly south Asian, etc. Whenever a new store opens (like the City of Industry store that opened earlier this year) there's a discussion among us Fry's regulars as to which ethnicity the workforce will be comprised of. :-)

Only heaven if part of the package they are trying to sell you includes themselves! :9

Yes, I did not word that very well. I was trying to give people an idea of the size, not merchandise. Though I was like a trained dog following my selected twinks around the store :)

The perfect position, Human Resources Director. I think I'll apply in the morning. I can hardly wait to hire my first batch of twink clerks :p

I think with the right touch of experience one could easily turn the eye candy into a fun event :) It was almost as good as hanging out at the beach.

Northern California includes the SF Bay Area--the good part of the state.

Fry's initial claim to fame was being the ultimate Silicon Valley store. They carried everything needed for life in the Silly Valley, including silicon chips, potato chips, Jolt cola and deodorant. Catered to the "wires and pliers" crowd. Later, they branched out in to consumer stuff. The original Fry's was torn down long ago, was sort of near Great America. A very cool place. A true equalizer, in the olden days, everyone in the Valley shopped at Fry's--eventually.

Yes, they tend to be twink heaven, then and now. Hm, I should check out the restrooms next time I'm in.

And just how is it that the customer service has been so awful for so many years and yet they remain in business? Much as I enjoy the eye candy, I've gotten so I'd rather pay retail than go in to a Fry's.

I guess I am getting old.

I just got wood over their selection of cat5 crimpers & ohm meters. Oh and the patch cable; the colors, the colors!

I hate their customer service so much that I've never noticed the guys who work there (although I have noticed a few of the customers). Guess I'll have to go back to check things out (I just won't buy anything -- at least not the stuff on the shelves).

RE: different themes

Here in Phoenix, they're medieval castles.

The previous responses definitely identified the typical employees (twinkie-techs) and customers (techie geeks of all sizes and shapes).

Their selection of merchandise (especially DVDs) is huge, but you best know what you are looking for, and be able to identify it when you find it. I've found the info I get from employees wrong about half of the time. And they are well known for repackaging defective stuff and reselling it, over and over again until someone decides it isn't worth the hassle to return it.

You should've seen their first (Silicon Valley) stores in

the '90s when the economy was strong. Anyone with a pulse

who knew even a little about electronics could get a job that

paid a lot more than Fry's did, thus Fry's staff was just

about useless for getting information about what they sold.

While we're on the subject of Fry's and their theme-decor

stores, have you ever noticed the sign by the entrance

that tells you photographing (or even sketching) the

store's interior is prohibited?

They're also about the only store in town with a strong selection of queer themed DVDs. At one point, they even stocked some gay porn.

Either they know their market or are not above making a buck.

Well, what I meant was, they're in the Bay Area (where they began), Sacramento (where they took over an Incredible Universe store), the Los Angeles Area (six stores so far), and San Diego (another former Incredible Universe.) They don't have any stores in central California (i.e., the central coast, the San Joaquin Valley) or anywhere north of Sacramento. Also none (so far) in the Inland Empire (Riverside/San Bernardino Counties.)

You can have Fry's. Personally, I have never gone to the BestBuy in West LA without being rewarded by the drool-inducing sight of some major jock/hunks shopping around.:p
