The Color Purple - National Touring Company

Had tickets last night to the national touring company of The Color Purple. It was a wonderful productions and I'd encourage you to see it if it comes to your city.

 

While I enjoyed the movie a few years ago, I wasn't sure how it would work as a musical. Well, the musical version is much less "dark" and depressing than the movie. I think it emphasizes parts of the book that the movie didn't.

 

Very strong cast and not a weak voice among them. The male dancers were very strong and great to look at.

 

The scenery was minimal yet very appropriate for the production.

 

Very enjoyable evening.
