She was an elegant and beautiful lady. I truly enjoyed watching "Leave It To Beaver" because of her. Sounds like her last years were difficult (she suffered from a rheumatoid disease) but I know she is at peace now.

You can see her talk about various things on YouTube on TVLegends, including speaking about her role in "Airplane" -

(btw, for those who enjoy the golden days of TV, there are really some wonderful interviews on TVLegends that will bring back a lot of great memories and it is interesting to see many actors in their golden years. I particularly enjoyed the TVLegends series with James Arness because I was/am a huge fan of Gunsmoke)

Like everyone else, I am sorry to hear of Ms. Billingsley's death.

"Leave It To Beaver" really holds up, even today. In the last few year, many of the show were about Wally and Eddie, as Tony Dow took his place along side Ricky Nelson and others as a teen age favorite amonge girls and boys. Really, they should have changed the name of the show to "Leave It To Wally."

Keep on Trying...

I read that in 1956 Ms. Billingsley tried-out for the role of Danny Thomas' wife on "Make Room for Daddy." She lost that role to another actress, but kept trying.... A year later, she won the role of a lifetime as June Cleaver. Another great testament to the old adage: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
