Rip Gloria Stuart Dies at 100

the elegant actress who found fame late in her seven decade Hollywood career when she earned an Oscar nomination for her role as the elderly Rose in 1998's Titanic, passed away on Sunday in her West Los Angeles home. She was 100 years old.

I liked her line when interviewed about her role as Rose that they were looking for someone of her age that was "viable, not alcoholic, and not falling down". Also the fact that they took one and a half hours each day to make her look 101 when she was only 86!

 

Had she been alive, Tallulah Bankhead would have qualified for the role as looking about 101 in her relatively young dotage of late '60's but would have failed the first three criteria!
