Rod Hagen brings up a fun thread about music, so to piggy back on that...here's a trivia question for all you guys!

Remember The Boom Town Rats? They sang a song in the early 80's called "I Don't Like Mondays" What real life event was that song inspired by?

(Hint:) I suspect that our California, especially our San Diego clients or escorts might come up with the answer 1st....

Someone else is going to get the whole story down correctly, but as I remember it is the story of a young woman that goes on a shooting spree on a college campus. When finally apprehended by the police and asked why she did it she said "I don't like Mondays".

Am I right Gabe, or is this a rock and roll legend?

Hmmm, very good, I don't know whether it is legend or not, but you got the story correct. Although, growing up in Calif, I seem to recall it was a sniper incident (by a female) at an elementary school in San Diego.

5th or 6th grader at a SD elemntary school. I think she got the princial, a teacher and a few kids. It was banned from SD radio stations for a long time. Excellent song.

On a related note - remember Julie Brown's song "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun"?

I loved that cassette. Long gone now. Other notable songs from that album:

"I like 'em Big and Stupid"

"'Cause I'm a Blonde"

Gabe cool question. A then 16 year old girl named Brenda Spencer (her name is in public records and media) shot up the elementary school playground across from her home. Her Father purchased the gun for her as a holiday gift (thus the line "play with her toys a while") and when asked why she did the deed she replied, "I don't like Mondays."

Due to the "hot topic" she was actually transported from San Diego to OC Juvenile Hall where her trail took place and the petition was found to be true.

Also, the song was briefly banned in parts of the UK. There was an attempt to ban the song during her trial in Southern California.

I was briefly her probabtion officer (wink rod).

Actually for me their best record was Tonic For The Troops. It is somewhat tounge in cheek with songs like Rap Trap, (I never Loved) Eva Braun (that was suppose to be Hitlers GF or Wife I forget) and Me and Howard Hughes was also a great song on that record.
