I have recently turned 40 and could use a little "tune-up."

Could anybody recommend (preferably from personal experience) a plastic surgeon in Manhattan who has operated on a significant number of male (not necessarily gay) patients?

Thanks.

Whatever you do, stay away from facelifts. Male skin is thicker and its much more noticable that youve had work done because the skin becomes thinner. You ever seen one of those "melting face" guys? There are a few around here in New York, one that goes to David Barton gym that especially scary.

Yeah, I agree that facelifts can be scary on some men. I will probably only do my eyes, and possibly lipo under my chin and my lovehandles.

Besides Rio, which is world-famous for its plastic surgery, Buenos Aires is also a good alternative. Many well-qualified surgeons at rates that will leave you pleased! See the "Escorts South of the U.S.A" board and look for a thread called something like "Fountain of Youth" for details. For the price of what it would cost you in Manhattan, or less, you can get a trip and time to rest and recuperate far away from home where nobody you know will have to see your bruised/puffy face while you're healing. Of course, you can also find someone to solace you during the healing phase for far less than it would cost you in Manhattan. :7

I know this will send some of you around the bend, but guy you're only 40 years old! What kind of train wreck are you that you think you need plastic surgery at such a young age? It sounds to me like you want to be 23 forever and it aint gonna happen son.

My suggestion is that you get your lazy ass to a gym and hire a trainer with the money you plan on spending on a surgeon. Your goal should be to become one hot 40yo motherfucker and not another one of these guys who's always chasing his youth. If you insist on being one of the latter guys, you're only gonna look pathetic - surgeon or no surgeon.

Helpfully yours,

Yeesh! Who did them? Looks like a triple malpractice suit to me! :-)

Obviously, this trio went overboard on the plastic surgery. I'm sure that with much less radical interventions (like eliminating bags under the eyes or a dewlap under the chip) a person will look better without having that ridiculously "stretched" appearance. The objective, after all, isn't to come out of the procedure looking like you've been to the taxidermist's!

Probably there are examples of this kind of overkill in Brazil or Argentina, but I've never actually seen one. I know a lot of people there who've had a little work done and the improvements are very subtle. You really wouldn't know they'd had something done if they hadn't told you. After getting rid of some imperfections they just look better; more rested and youthful without necessarily looking like a twenty-something. Joining a gym, eating right and getting plenty of sleep will go a long way to improving anyone's appearance, but there are some things none of those approaches will cure. For those, a little nipping and tucking and cutting and snipping will make the difference. So, if you want to do it, go ahead. Just be sure you're clear about your motivations and don't have unrealistic expectations that after surgery you'll suddenly become the guy everybody wants to lay! Ain't gonna happen! But if seeing less bags and sags when you look in the mirror will make you feel good about yourself, then it's a worthwhile thing to do.
