From http://www.broadwaycares.org/broadwaybares20

This hotly anticipated annual event combines the naughtiness of burlesque and the razzle-dazzle of Broadway and has been a smashing success since its inception in 1992. Created by Jerry Mitchell, the event features the hottest male and female dancers on Broadway and has become one of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS' signature events.

OK, I'll ask.....is there full-frontal male nudity??.....(that dude in the front center of the ad looks great)

I live out here in the remote southwest deserts, so I apologize for my lack of sophistication......thanks

Officially, no. It's a burlesque show and burlesque was all about the tease.

But the smaller the costume the more likely the costume malfunction. ;) Particularly in the second (late) show, after some of the performers have had an adult beverage or two.

I'll be there! With a 7:00 AM flight, I'm so glad there will be plenty of eye-candy to keep me wide-eyed and at attention. Really looking forward to being a part of this incredible event! :)

I sure hope Brandon's cell battery lasts through the second show.

Wouldn't miss it

This will actually be my 19th year...I missed one about 6 years ago...to my huge disappointment. Was at Splash that first year and knew then that it was going to be huge.

Jerry Mitchell spoke about his own career as well as Broadway Bares at Seth's Broadway Chatterbox on Wednesday. It will probably air on Cirius Radio's Broadway channel sometime in the next week.

Take lots of singles (and $5s and $10s) for the "rotation." This is after the formal show, the entire cast stands on the edge of the stage and takes donations, stripper style for tips. This is where they get a ton of money, and the cause is great. They're trying to reach a million dollars this year. (Fingers crossed.)

I can't give as much as I'd like since Pride is this coming weekend and the influx of out-of-town escorts is amazing. LOL

I'm seeing the late show at midnight and I'll report if there were any costume malfunctioning ... :)

If anyone wants to attend either show (9:30pm or 12:00am) there are still general admission tickets available at the door of Roseland Ballroom this afternoon (52nd Str b/w Broadway and 8th). Hurry up, they won't last.

Enjoy the show. It's for a good cause.

A great show.

I will try to write a summary tomorrow, for my own sake as well as to share. Look on the Comedy and Tragedy thread.

Great show

Just got back from the midnight show. Even though it was hot as blazes (temperature and otherwise) the show was terrific once again. Amazing numbers, hot bods and guest appearances by Vanessa Williams, Kristin Chenoweth and Lucy Liu. If you ever have the chance to go, you should - great fun.

Outrageous!

The producer Jerry Mitchell and the creative directors and choreographers did put a lot of work in this show. All 220 hot dancers and staff donated their time for Broadway Cares / Equity fights AIDS and raised about $1 million yesterday.

The guest stars this year: Nick Adams, Kevin Burrows, Charles Busch, Kevin Chamberlin, Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Cody, Tony Award winner Alan Cumming, Diana DeGarmo, Lea DeLaria, Felicia Finley, Tony Award winner Katie Finneran, Barrett Foa, Tony Award winner Debbie Gravitte, Julie Halston, Jackie Hoffman, Denis Jones, Tony Award winner Jane Krakowski, Sebastian LaCause, Reichen Lehmkuhl, Norm Lewis, Lucy Liu, Julia Murney, Christopher Sieber, Rachelle Rak, Andrew Rannells, Bruce Vilanch, Tony Award winner Lillias White and Vanessa Williams.

A great time was had by all.

P.S.: Check out the full resumé of the show by skynyc in the Comedy Forum.
