After much work and maybe a bribe or two, here is the current list of dancers for Thursday's party at Adonis Lounge: Rocco, JR, Benny, Blaze, Nikoli, always popular & hard to cum by Adam, Sebastian, Alex, and recent editions to the Adonis crew Brad, Shawn, Gustavo, & Alexander. Brooklyn will be back in Brooklyn after a brief hiatus, promising his usual high energy performances. Chris will be moved from doorguy to dancer...again. Big Lou will be on door duty, and brand new to thursdays team is newcommer Danny. Pics will be added shortly.

I have been coming to your club for a few months and enjoy your shows very much but what started out as 1 women has now turned into 7 last week.

 

I have never been to ANY strip club that allows women except for the 20 club. Dont get me started on that place!

 

I thought the Adonis Lounge was going to be the solution to the 20 Club problem.

 

Speaking for myself only I dont like women around when I'm trying to seduce sexy dancers.

The Adonis Lounge is a male party, catering to men and aiming to provide a relaxed enviornment where we can all enjoy ourselves and have fun. Since its inception in October, we've paid close attention to accomodating all of our customers suggestions, comments, and complaints, in an effort to facilitate a constantly improving club. Our party is not catered to or marketed to women in any way. Women are only allowed entry if accompanied by a gay friend or group. It is true that there were 7 women present at last weeks show. They were brought by 7 men if not more, some of which have been loyal customers since the begining when we truly needed support.

 

It is a balancing act to say the least getting 15 dancers to show up, the necessary customers to ensure they are making money and will return, and ultimately the most important of all, that the customers are buying drinks and the bar is also making money. If the bar doesnt make money, there is no Adonis Lounge. We keep admission cheap, drinks reasonable, and even private rooms affordable, while producing a quality product and new hot dancers weekly. Sorry for the long winded answer, but hopefully it sheds some light on why 7 women along with their many gay friends were not denied admission at Adonis Lounge last Thursday. I can assure you that you wont ever see groups of loud females alone, ruining the vibe of the club. As always I welcome comments or suggestions from other Adonis customers regarding this issue.

I have been enjoying Adonis Lounge since it started, and can honestly say Tim and his crew have done a great job keeping everyone happy: as he said above, prices (both at the door and at the bar) are reasonable, the line-up is kept diverse and fresh with lots of new faces and many old favorites, and the staff - from the door guys, to Joe and George at the bar, to the dancers - are consistently warm, gracious, professional and generally a pleasure to be with. My only complaint is that it's not open the other six nights of the week!! But let's give them some time for that! Keep up the great work everybody!

Thanks for the encouragement CGFD...While we cant be open 7 days yet, I guess now is as good a time as any to announce we will have a special Adonis Lounge event for gay pride weekend Sat July 3. Ive been trying to get a Sat for a longgg time, as many customers have asked for it in the previous months. Hopefully those of you who cant make our normal Thursday nites, can come out and support the best party in NY that evening! If we get the necessary support July 3, it is a definite possibility we can begin doing 1 Sat a month, and see where it goes from there...There will be further announcements regarding that Sat soon, as we have something very special planned!

Tippy... When the Adonis Lounge first opened, they posted a "No women policy", since then, things have changed and more and more women are showing up each week. You mentioned that last week it was 7 women and about 20+ male customers, what will tonight bring?

 

Like you, when I go to a gay male strip club I'm not expecting to see women there. It's a place where gay men can kick back, relax, and be themselves. We have very few clubs like that, while women have many.

 

We all know the reasons why the women show up, it's because they find it easier to pick guys up at gay clubs than at clubs that permit only women. Too much competition for them. Some dancers who work at gay clubs seem to feel they have to prove their masculinity to these women and cater solely to them. For me, it's a turn off and I pass on going with dancers who do this.

 

One of my biggest objections is that women do not expect to pay for lap dances. There have been many times when I've just finished paying my dancer $20 for each song and the women pays nothing. I have complained about this at the 20 Club and so have dancers. In fact, there have been arguments over this... The management should realize how this makes men feel. We're there to support the working guys for their services while women show up and get it free. Q. How does that help the club? And to those men who bring their lady friends along, please, stop thinking solely of yourselves. You're at at gay club that caters to gay men. Maybe you're okay with your lady friend being there but that's not how the regulars, who pay big bucks for this type of entertainment, feel about it.

 

Before it's too late and the women take over the club, I hope the Adonis Lounge promoters will review it's policy on permitting women.

With all due respect, Coop, I think your post has way too many generalizations in trying to make its point. You may think that women go to gay strip clubs for reason X but you don't know that for sure, and you certainly cannot know that in the case of the seven or so women who showed up last week unless you interviewed each one and they told you so. Every woman I saw there was accompanied by a guy friend and as far as I could tell, everyone enjoyed themselves. As to women getting free lap dances, I didn't see any evidence of that at the Adonis Lounge. If that's the case then it's up to the club to enforce a rule that everyone pays for their lapdances.

 

I just can't fathom why the presence of a few women should be a hindrance to getting our groove on. Have fun, enjoy yourself. Everyone's there for the same purpose, so don't be so self-conscious. This thread seems like it's making a mountain out of a molehill. I think the head of the Lounge struck the right compromise when he said that women have to be accompanied by their guy friends. Don't make such a big deal out of nothing. It's more business for the club, the promoters and the dancers. Without enough business, the Lounge will fold and none of us want that to happen. I'd rather have a few women at the Lounge than have no Lounge at all if there isn't enough gay male patronage in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn to keep it going. So lighten up and have a good time. I honestly don't mean this to be insulting in any way. I just think we should appreciate the Lounge while we have it and hope for its continued success so we can have a fun place to go.

Out to "Mr. Adonis Lounge"... Thanks for listening and agreeing that the number of women were increasing and was causing a distraction. Last week, one of the "ladies" at Adonis had a bit too much to drink and took to the stage to show us her pole moves. Not something I go to a male strip club to see. Anyway...

 

The Adonis Lounge did take a stand and the night was very successful without the women. Yes, it makes a difference and to those who attended tonight, the difference was felt. If a club wants to hold a "ladies night" just inform the customers before hand and we can decide if we'd like to attend.

 

Good meeting up with Taz, Tippy Toe, NYTomcat, Adam Smith, Skyny, and other familiar faces in attendance.

 

Still the best place in town for a lap dance is the Adonis Lounge.

I have to agree with Cooper and also think the promoter is doing the right thing for his party long term by keeping it a male only event for the most part. I know there are friends of his who he allows in and that is to be expected.

 

I also heard from 3 dancers tonight that are happy about hearing about the male only news because they dont want to be seen dancing by women.

 

I have the perfect example in Montreal that when a gay male strip club was taken over by new owners. To drum up more business they decided to allow women in.

More and more women came and less and less gay male customers came.

The dancers were not happy and made less and less. (everyone knows gay males spend more on dancers than women) A short time later they were down to a handfull of dancers. The dancers left are ugly and gay customers who spend more money on dancers went away and never returned.

Coop, I was at the event last night but I didn't know who was who from Hooville. I'm sure we saw each other, though. In reading the other people's posts about the topic it appears that there are valid points about keeping the show male only. I don't really have a preference, but when I came last week I brought a female friend (not the stripper!), it was my 1st time and I certainly wouldn't have shown up alone. Now that I've broken the ice, last night I went solo and had fun as well. I'm used to seeing hags at all events gay, so it didn't bother me, but if it truly changes the nature of the event, then I think it is best to keep it all-male. Thanks to those of you for offering me different perspectives which allowed me to reconsider my position. The lounge was a blast last night and I look forward to enjoying it more in the future. I won't be able to make it next Thursday, but I'll try and come to the one after. Thanks again to the Lounge for a great time.
