Hi Kids. Monkey and I are booked at the W Hotel in Sydney for the duration of the Gay Games. I have a major concern and I hope that Trav, or someother globetrotter, could help me out.

It's hip, obviously. And hip can be good. But hip can be loud. I am concerned that the atrium-like structure will filter the 4am bar noise upward to our room. What I DON'T need to hear from you all-night druggies is that we should just be grateful to be in the middle of such a big party, because I think a hotel should cater to those people paying for the rooms, not those buying $20 Cosmos and snorting cocaine off the bellman's ass in the W's WC. No matter how envogue my hotel happens to be, the management should force everyone to shut the fuck up after 12 am. Sadly hotels are hosting fetes that are damn near Raves without concern for the room-guests's comfort.

And so my question is, having stayed or visited the W in Sydney, do you think its structure implies that even from underneath the Frette Linens of our Loft Suite we will hear the nonstop Lobby party every night? Thank you.

Since you asked so nicely Rod, if Atrium is inside with the doors facing it (like the Marriott Marquis), you should have no problem with noise. If the bar is outside beneath the guest room windows (like the Sky Bar at the Mondrian-the first time I stayed there being the only time I have had to change a room for noise), you will have a big problem. In any case, please email me with the room number after you've checked in so that I can pass it along to my all night druggie friends who will be there also for the games. I'll tell them to pack the appropriate pots and pans.

Later.

PS. And Rod, just for future reference, the bellmen in Schraeger's hotels are much better looking, put out much more frequently and have much better coke than those at the W hotels.

PPS. And much better news for you tiger, Tom Chase broke up with the BF last week and just moved to Palm Springs. There's hope for you yet to plow his ass.

Consider staying at the Chateau Sydney, if you can book a room overlooking the habour. It's in Elizabeth Bay and a short cab ride from downtown (could easily walk as well.) I do understand why you would want to stay at the the W, but the Chateau Syndey is in a very cool neighborhood and the view is breathtaking! Also, probably a little cheaper than the W.

>Pity for the folks at the W hotel. Their guest hasn't even

>checked in yet ahd she's already bitching!

I'm not "bitching" bitch, I'm being cautious.

I'll look into the other hotel, thank you Alan. But at this point I am certain it will be booked, so I would like to hear from those who have been inside the W, what do you think of the accoustics/structure. Does it have the potential to be impossibly noisy?

Thanks Trav. I still don't understand your allegiance to Schrag, but to each their own.
