This thread reminds me of something from many years ago.

I was attending a special event held at the college I was attending. It was based upon the Seder meal, but was a Christian celebration tied into the historical Jewish tradition.

At one point during the meal when there was some down time and we were eating, those sitting around my table started telling jokes. I told the following joke ...

There was a pastor, who every time he reached orgasm would yell out "Sweet Jesus!". This went on for quite a while before his wife finally questioned him about it, thinking it was in rather bad taste. He responded, "Not at all! Haven't you ever read the verse in the Bible that says, 'Blessed is he who cums in the name of the Lord?'"

My friends around the table all snickered at the joke, realizing that there were many around us who would not find the joke funny at all.

Shortly thereafter, the meal progressed with the chaplain standing up and saying, "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"

There was no snickering this time. Our table erupted in loud and uncontrollable raucous laughter. I almost peed my pants.

That was a great story about the "Sweet Jesus" joke.

I know certain thins sound hilarious, it is really funny if you have to do certain translation and things don't quite come out right!

I love this site myself for funny misunderstandings.....

My nephew tells me that Mandarin doesn't lend itself to literal translation to English either.
