I'll need a little direction here; Are we talking Literature as in the classics or are we allowed to drift in to the current century?

 

What comes to mind is: "The Front Runner" by Patricia Nell Warren. An incredible Gay love triangle story about two long-distance runners and their coach. After more than 30+ years it still cycles to the top of my reading list every now and then.

You will see a thread on The Front Runner right here in this forum. I don't know that we need to get too highbrow about the books we discuss, but I would probably draw the line at James Patterson!
