Is there a gay area in Washington, DC?

I'm going to Washington DC next month and wondering if there is a "gay area" in the city. Also, what are some of the gay friendly hotels and/or B&B's in the gay area of DC. I need one within a few blocks of a Metro station.

For years the area around Dupont Circle has been notably gay friendly.

Definitely Dupont Circle area.

 

I suggest checking out http://www.metroweekly.com/ for specific B&B's and other gay-friendly locations.

The area around Dupont Circle is probably your best bet. Check out the Palomar Hotel, part of the Kimpton chain. Very friendly and accepting. There are several other smaller hotels in that area as well, and most of the big chain hotels are also good.

Dupont is still the best area as well as over on 16th street, within walking distance. Metroweekly is a good source of info.

Of course DuPont...the Logan Circle Area, U Street corridor, 14th and 17th Sts from N St north, and how about SE near Capitol Hill and the new baseball stadium. We're everywhere, we're everywhere. Google Gay Bars etc for DC and you can't go wrong.

Palomar is very nice on P. St. Only 3 blocks to metro. Carlyle Suites at 1731 New Hampshire Ave. might be cheaper. Nice Art Deco hotel. 2 blocks to metro. 2 Hiltons, 1 Sheridan around Dupont Circle area.

Dupont's not as gay as it used to be. But the 17th St strip is still probably the place to go along with P St between 17th and 14th. The gay sports bar Nellie's is usually hoppin' at 9th and U Sts NW.
