The FAA is taking a very dim view of this. It is too bad that "life" cannot be taken in a different context other than the job is serious and the consequences are serious. No one was harmed or even threatened to be harmed but it was not professional conduct. The controllers should be "sternly' chastized but not suspended or fired. If it were to happen again, adios, no questions asked.

I guess the federal government is saying no more "bring your kids to work day".

Airport Security and the safety scare scam the airlines have are horrible. I thought authorized personnel only was allowed in those secure areas! Yet I guess if your the boy/girfriend, spouse, or child of an employee... just walk right on in!

You can still bring your kid to work on those days but they are not allowed to play at daddy or mommy's job. As you know, familarity breeds contempt or, in this case, the easing of rules.

FEDEX has had for years, open house for the kids of pilots. They even name their aircraft for kids. It is amazing for a kid to see his name on the nose of a DC-10 or another aircraft but daddy or mommy are not allowed or even think about taking the kid on a flight, much less fly the airplane.

Rules apparently are made to be broken and human beings seem to do that on a regular basis. What the penalty should be is an open question, isn't it?

Well this gentleman apparently brought his son one day and his daughter the next. He and his supervisor have been suspended pending investigation.

I must remind myself not to schedule any surgical procedures for bring your child to the OR day.

RE: medical treatment

Once, many moons ago, my sister, who is deathly afraid of the sight of blood, was visiting a friend of hers who was an intern at the MED, our local emergency room. It was Saturday night and as the night wore on, more and more drunks with cuts and bruises, auto accident victims, etc. began pouring in. Suddenly, the intern hands my sister a needle and some suture material and "commands" her to start suturing. She does, apparently in self defense. I don't know how she kept herself from getting sick but she didn't. Maybe her compassion and being too busy "working" kicked in.

The point being, you never know who will be doing what to whom, do you?

Best regards,

KMEM
