You might find the Cloisters interesting. It's someplace I have wanted to visit since my college days (many years ago).

"The Cloisters house the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection of art and architecture from medieval Europe. Best known for the beautiful tapestries on display, the Cloisters also offer architectural installations, a series of special programs, and fantastic views of the Hudson. "

I know so little of NYC that this was the best I could do.

Good Luck in planning and have a tremendous time.....It not so much about what you see but the company you keep.

I have had only a few trips to NYC, but enjoyed each one. Some things I am a sucker for each time: shopping/ gawking at Tiffany's on 5th Avenue, MoMa, carriage ride snuggled together through Central Park (catch a carriage outside of the Waldorf hotel), afternoon high tea at the Waldorf Astoria (all of these are fairly close and can be done within walking distance of each other), catching something new at the theatre. All good stuff to share good times. Two places I have liked to eat: Caravagio on the East side, and Carmine's on Broadway. Both are great italian, robust, and abundant in flavor. Hope you have a great time.

The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art is, one of a very small group of, truly great art museums. If you like art your can spend a wonderful afternoon there for the very reasonable price of a donation of your choice.

If the weather is good you can also spend a wonderful afternoon taking a boat ride around Manhattan.

If you are looking for something out of the city consider a bus trip up to West Point where you can join a tour of the Military Academy. The scenery is beautiful.

I love the Cloisters but it involves a long subway ride through some less than wonderful neighborhoods. The art there is as already stated is limited exclusively to that of Medieval Europe.

If you like dance New York City is the dance capital of the world. Check to see if either New York City Ballet or American Ballet Theatre is performing at Lincoln Center.

Now I am not sure if opera is your thing... but being a masochist I can't get enough of it. At any rate, since cultural things were mentioned above I might suggest the Metropolitan Opera...

There seems to be no Thursday performance scheduled and I am not sure of how many days you are planning... So if opera is your thing you can lock yourselves in a room on Thursday evening and then catch what the MET has to offer the next couple of days...

At any rate, Friday they are presenting their winning production of Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia which is always a crowd pleaser. Saturday evening is the new production of Verdi's Attila... a rousing rarity... There seem to be a number of tickets available for both performances... not sure about tickets for La Boheme which is the Saturday afternoon offering.

Restaurant suggestions: Nocello on W 55th Street if you like Italian food to go with your diversion. For something different Victor's Café on W 52nd for Cuban cuisine. Carmine's as noted above is a crowd pleaser but order in moderation... portions are HUGE!

Enjoy... you deserve it!!!

Ok these are great. Although Im avoiding the cloisters as I love the place and go there all the time. Medieval fan here.

A carriage ride through central park definately seems called for especially since we are headed to FAO Schwartz. (OK BIG KID) its not what it used to be but still fun. What a great idea racket. Im not sure we could high tea at the waldorf, I never have but always wanted to. Wonder if we should do drinks at the Oak room. Might be able to make that since we will be at Central Park South and FAO. HMMMMM

I Have already got the theater tickets for Thursday (BTW huge blizzard hitting NY at the same time LOL how romantic snowball fights on fifth avenue haven't done that in years). Ive seen it a couple (ok more) times but you all know its my favorite and R hasn't seen it so.... lets be honest what could be more appropriately named for this weekend than WICKED.

I bet we could hit MOMA and the new Tim Burton exhibit I'll have to get advance tickets though I think I have a friend who is a contibutor. Of course I love the MET but.... MOMA is more appropriate this time. Friday is Il Barbiere di Siviglia... what a great idea. but I better check with R before I bore him to tears. Same reason Im staying away from my fave ABT... I missed the Gala this year did anyone get there and how was it.... inquiring minds want to know.

I have dinner Thursday... my little secret. Carmine is a great idea especially given the man in question. I would say almost a must unless we decide to head downtown for dinner and evening which we were thinking of doing... anyone have any suggestion around bleeker or the village... for dinner just in case

Saturday, I already made my plans for but thanks... i'll advise later.

This is good I knew you guys would come through.

Now I just need ideas for lower manhattan just in case and any suggestion on Nightlife either midtown or lower? HEY OH YOUSE GUYS gotta get pastries and Cappucino at Ferrara's dont think Veneiro's is open late. HMMMM So many things to see and people to do....

You now we do have to have alone time in this schedule too sometime... well we'll eat quick.

PS Whipped write me when there something good at the MET Id love to suffer with you. LOL

Epigonos: I love West Point and the whole Valley... so much.... I live there.... so NO

I'm glad

that you are feeling better. I bet Romann will comfort you with his big arms. Have fun and you will be getting a nosy private message from me asking how things went after your wonderful weekend. lol...:)

If it is not too late some suggestions:

For a museum, try the Frick. The MET and MOMA are too crowded to savor with Romann. It is quiet and you can just sit by the indoor fountain and enjoy your man.

For a place to eat, may i suggest:

Joe Allen's, 326 west 46th

Heartbeat, 149 east 49th (very healthy as the name suggests)

Home Restaurant, 20 Cornelia (in the Village)

Picholine,35 west 64th (close to Lincoln Center)

Ruby Foo's, 49th and Broadway

For an interesting "tourist" thing, try the "back stage tour" of Radio City Music Hall (the Met. Opera does one, too); this is a limited small group and interesting. Ice skating at Rockerfeller Center could be an option.

When Romann came to my house for an overnight, he brought his dog; if possible, you might try a meeting with him and his dog (very well behaved and a delight to have along). Since you are a dog lover, this could be fun for you.

Sounds like a plan indeed!

...we do have to have alone time in this schedule too sometime... well we'll eat quick.
...and somehow it seems that you indeed had a basic plan… I can only imagine what you have premeditated and planned for the "alone time”! Hopefully Mr. R will survive!

Well, since you asked....

If it were me and I had your favorite hire and friend in a hotel room for 3 days, I would do what I used to do with Jim Slade....

Keep him naked and on my face ..... 99% of the time....

And Romann makes it easy.... His favorite place to eat is McDonald's!!!

With an ass like that, no way he's getting out of the room for long.

Weekend in NYC

Restaurant suggestion

Nightlife

Day visits (even tourist traps)

Tom,

Unfortunately, the weather is going to suck for the next few days. Rain, sleet, and snow are not the best for walking around in Central Park or taking that romantic carriage ride.

Rule out any observation decks, although the "Top of the Rock" and the Empire State Bldg are good for taking in the views, it doesn't make sense when you have zero visibility.

For restaurants: there are some fine restaurants in the Time Warner Bldg. You won't be disappointed. Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, A Voce Columbus, and Porter House are excellent choices. Also, they have spectacular views overlooking Central Park and Columbus Circle... Since you plan on going to Central Park, try the Central Park Boat House for lunch.

Nightlife: Gay bars such as Urge, DTox, and Cock are all in the same area. I've attached some info: http://www.companyofmen.org/showthread.php?t=69987

In line with going to FAO Schwartz, why not take your companion to Dave and Busters, 42nd St. You can enjoy an afternoon of arcade games and choose from several restaurants. Also, 2 large movie theaters are in that area... http://local.yahoo.com/info-34323044-dave-buster-s-restaurant-arcade-new-york

As for day trips, work off all those calories and do some ice skating in Central Park or Rockefeller Center. Too bad about the weather, otherwise, you can rent bikes in the Park and explore the paths.

This is just a starter, there's a lot more I can recommend...

Have a wonderful time!
