When one talks about Rupert Everett’s film roles demonstrating “his obvious inability to have an emotional range that didn’t go beyond A-B” remember that what one is talking about is his American FILM roles. Everett has appeared regularly, to outstanding reviews, on the London stage playing romantic straight leads.

During the intermission of “Morning Becomes Electra” with Helen Mirren in London I once remarked to Ralph Finnes, who happened to be sitting next to me, how much I enjoyed his stage performances as compared to his film performances. He laughed and agreed that his film performances were generally awful. He continued by saying that he made Hollywood films for the great money it provided not the challenging roles offered.

Not all Hollywood actors have the advantage of picking and choosing the roles they get paid to play. Unless they are one of the top ten to twenty they play the roles they are offered regardless of how awful they might be. Name me a Hollywood actor who hasn’t played the romantic lead in one or more real stinkers.

As for the snow, I am one person in New York who is groaning because we didn't get any snow!

We got PLENTY here in South Jersey. Did you want to come down and pick some up?

Of course, but we WERE talking about why he didn't have a bigger Hollywood film career and I think it had much less to do with his "coming out" than it did with his lack of emotional range in film and the fact that he couldn't make a film that made money. Believe, me Hollywood doesn't give a damn about what you do "on the stage." I have a list of clients who are great stage actors and Hollywood simply doesn't notice.

I assume all actors are gay unless proven otherwise.

Also, it sounds like the problem is in Hollywood, not with the viewing public. Nobody minds Neil Patrick Harris playing an aggressively hetero guy on TV even though he's out. In addition to Rupert Everett's trashing of the industry, he may have suffered more for being the ONLY movie star to come out. I think my point was that if more actors and public figures came out there would be little or no public hostility. I don't know Hollywood and can't speak for the spinelessness of people in that industry.

But Neil is playing a caricature of an on the make hetero--like Larry from Three's Company. In real life it is doubtful that Barney (or Larry for that matter) would be successful. So in the "willing suspension of disbelief" for a comedy show, the public doesn't mind Neil playing it--if you will forgive me--"straight". In a dramatic roll of a real lady killer--I am not sure if Neil could pull it off or if the viewing public would accept him.

And on James Franco--you hear rumors all the time of good looking guys being gay--obviously not all of them can be--so while not beyond the pale for him to be gay--I will need more proof before I am convinced.

Heartthrob Bottom

James Franco is a freakin' beefcake. In my fantasies: he's a bottom-slut with a big cock and a tight gay ass..and all he can do is close his eyes and whimper softly while I'm banging him...and I LOVE running my hands lovingly through the stud's dark, wavy hair as he shoots his big, creamy load.

Hey, God created this boy so hot and lovely for a reason.:)

Tristan

For me, Franco's absolutely sexiest performance is in Tristan and Isolde, otherwise quite a bomb, an attempt to made a dramatic movie from the legend that is the basis of Wagner's great opera, but without any singing, just lots of long, intense, wistful stares between lovers. Rufus Sewell plays the cuckolded King Mark and he's incredibly hot too, but Franco as the young knight Tristan takes the beefcake in that film - especially in the early scenes where he lies wounded and shirtless in an Irish cave as the young princess Isolde cares for his wounds. Get the DVD. Every time I watch that scene, I want to lean into the picture and lick his glorious bod!

He's Smart, too.

TB: I'm glad we're on the same page. Heck, I forgot to mention earlier that Franco's Ivy League educated, too. Sexy, Masculine & Smart is an potent combination in bed. Wolf!

Frankly, Neil Patric Harris has had a pretty damn good television career even if he were to never work again. Very few child stars have had the longevity he has, not to mention the range. Outside of Ellen he's the only openly gay person to host the Emmys that I'm aware of. I think in some form or another, Neils career has legs. The only thing that will change Hollywood's perception of gay male leading actors is when an openly gay male leading actor makes a hit high-grossing Hollywood movie.

I completely agree, I remember a few years back bumping into a male escort who I used to know and we had a little bit of a chat. Somewhere in the middle of the conversation we started talking about actors. He lay claim that actor, Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills 90210) had hired him for his services. The escort made a little bit of an issue about it and in addition to being a little bit of a showoff. I really didn't know what to believe at that time, but I think I did have doubts, anyways his story stayed in the back of my mind.

Now about a year or so ago, a friend of mine had invited me to her fund raising party and it just happened to be that Ian Ziering was there and I was introduced to him and his now fiance. Anways I was forunate enough to be seated at the same table with Ian and his girlfriend and they were curious to know what I do for a living and how I cope with the pressures and responsilbities. In turn I asked them both about Hollywood and the trappings of celebrity and both mentioned that a person's reputation can be killed based on rumors. I was very suprised by how forthcoming they were in conversation. Especially Ian who I thought had some interesting things to say and he seemed like he's very straight.

After I said my goodbye's and left for home, I somewhat harkened back to the conversation I had with the male escort a few years earlier and that's when I really doubted his story and wondered did he make it up for conversation and if so, why bother doing it and what did he expect to gain out of it. Later on I heard through other people that he's a good story teller, except when he gets caught. For a while I did believe that Ian was gay, but not anymore.

Why pick Ian Ziering to lie about? I had an escort who is gay for pay or bi tell me he was hired by Steven Segal to fuck his wife in a three way but that Segal made very sure that the two men did not touch. Then after the wife went to clean up, Segal went down on him. Who knows if this is true, but I often thought, why would he pick out Steven Segal for pity sake when Jean Claude van Damme would have made it a more interesting story. Why pick out Ian Ziering when Luke Perry would have been a much more interesting story.

Franco's a Hottie.

Gay or straight, who cares, he is 100 percent awesome and HOT! I'd willingly take one for the team and "test" Franco's sexual tendencies. Where do I sign up?

Perhaps the male escort fancied Ian Ziering and began embellishing his story from there.
