iPhones bring crusing to a new stage

I was unable to locate the thread about downloading "grinders" onto your iPhone and was wondering if anyone has tried/used it. If so, has it worked for you?

 

Locating gay men GPS style sounds like a wonderful idea. The download is free and the possibilities are endless.

 

A friend of mine used it at his gym and had much success. He also lives near a university and has met several students. I understand it's great when traveling or just walking in the City. And, you can filter out those who might not be your type.

Oh yes! I have Grinder on my iPhone and it WORKS VERY well and it tells you within feet how close other men are to you. Once you do find someone, you're able to message them back and forth. I've used it a number of times and highly recommend it.

It's class-based dating: only available for the Iphone. What's also cool is that it uses GPS to tell you who's nearby. I live in Chelsea, so when I log on to manhunt et al., I get all those guys in Jersey City and Astoria who lie and put Chelsea as their location (knowing that nobody will see their ads if they list their true locale). I suspect more than half the profiles that say Chelsea aren't. Grinder takes care of that issue by telling you who's actually nearby at any given time.

 

All that being said, I don't have an Iphone. I just think the app is cool.

Well I've two experiences that sort'a contradict your experience Romann. While languishing in a small South Texas city, I decided to down load Grindr to get the lowdown on what may be going on there. I actually met a young latino for coffee at the Starbucks in the local Target (it's that kind'a city). As we left, he asked for a lift to the garage to pick up his car which was having something done. When he got in the front seat, I suggested he turn on his iPhone to see what Grindr said was the distance between. It said we were 1.7 miles apart in the front seat of that VW Passat.

 

When I returned to New York, I turned on Grindr to see what may be going on locally on the upper west side. I was stunned to find that there was a really sexy hunk a mere "0" feet away. I quickly reached across the bed only to discover that alas I was still alone in it.
