Thanks for reminding us that there were heroes everywhere back then, doing the best that any one individual could do to stem a tide of intolerance and cruelty.

We need those every day heroes now more than ever. It is a shame that her efforts to save the Frank family fell a few weeks short.

One of the true heroes of the 20th century. A really great woman. Every school child should know her name and her story. The media is giving this scant attention -- surprise -- but this should be noticed. Attention should be paid as a great man once said.

But she gave us the diary one of the greatest gifts possible. It was she who scooped it off the floor after the Nazis arrested the Franks and kept it for safekeeping until after the war when she returned it to Otto.
