The Gaia hypothesis has its weaknesses. Nonetheless, for my money it will be a close-run race between the climate system and the microbial biomass as to which will succeed in ridding the planet of H. sapiens, or at least reducing our numbers to where we are no longer such a disturbance.

I would agree that the massive antibiotic overuse in agriculture probably does at least as much to promote antibiotic resistance than misuse of antibiotics in human medicine. If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably the more important factor, but I'm not saying that on the basic of any scientific study of which I'm aware, just a gut feeling.

I love

the fact Unicorn always think scientifically. That's why I want him to be my primary doctor ;) and he is so young too. :)

Neither will deystoy our planet. Both earth, animals and man are resiliient. The climate has oscillated over the centuries, mini-ice ages etc. If there is such a thing as global warming, it would be impossible financially speaking to do anything about it.

Animals adapt and science adapts. I am in the cattle business in a very serious way and can assure you that new medicines come out for cattle just like new ones for humans. New strains develop and new antibiotics are developed. In third world countries without the advances we have, all of the food is very suspect.

The planet will evolve and people will endure as they have throughout the centuries.

The first case of XXDRTB has been reported in Miami. Extraoradinarily Drug Resistant TB. We may be able to contain this particular pest, but you are blind to the facts if you do not expect a major epidemic of some type sometime in the near future.

There has not been a major advance in TB therapy in decades. The reason? There was no money in it as it appeared that TB was a thing of the past. So don't expect science to have just the right magic bullet when we need to pull the trigger.

No, science and medicine are not always ahead but eventually they will catch up. Some will perrish of this and other genitically mutated strains of disease.

But neither this new strain of TB nor anything similar will destroy the planet-nor will it eliminate the human race. Eventually, this will be conquered also. This is the natural evolution of life.

I remember a few years ago when Roundup (glosphate) orignally patented by Monsanto would eliminate virtually any grassy weed. Now certain grases have a tolerance but the chemist are always in their labs improving herbicides.

After a hard rain, I still find arrowheads on my property produced by an ancient Caddo Indian civilization. Things change over time but the land and the human race are intact.

Roundup

Patent for Roundup expired in 2000. You can buy generic ones from China these days.

Generic Roundup

There are many generics available today through people like Estes Chemical and Red River Specialties. They are probably made in the U. S. or Mexico. They may even be made by Monsanto. Dow Chemical competes with itself on GrazonP&D brush killer by also touting another brand that they make with the identical formula.

Eraser is a generic Roundup that comes to mind although there are several. Anything labeled 41% Glosphate is the same thing. I could be wrong but I think the brew for Liquid Edger that is sold for use around sidewalks, curbs etc. is the same thing.

Yes Greatness. I do have a wonderful life but it has all been carefully planned since childhood. Nothing about this is inadvertent. It was all fueled by seemingly impossible goals and an ambition that gnawed at me like a timber woolf throughout my formative years.

It is hardwork but peaceful and tranquil. I am surrounded by good friends. The scenery is beautiful and if I get restless, I go to Dallas to play or see my escort of the year. My place is large for this green and productive area of Texas and it make a good living. You should come visit.
