Bette Midler- WHAT???

She's on the Joy Behar show, and at first I didn't recognize her. Actually, I don't recognize her but they say it is she. When she talks, her face stays completely without expression. It's big and puffy. Not a wrinkle in sight. Her nose is perfect. Truly she looks much younger in the mannequin sense of younger.

I miss the Divine Miss M.

Wow, she hasn't crossed my mind in eons, probably about 7000 years. I'm going to have to check with Netflix to see if they have her performance DVDs. "The taco joke? You want me to do the taco joke?"

I'm a bit upset because for the last 6 months, of the last 3 or so trips to Vegas, she was never performing...and now, I can't fit another visit into my schedule before January 31st (her last show).

Needs New Material

 

I confess, I love Bette. I saw the Devine Miss M in Las Vegas last June. To be honest, I was really disappointed. I saw her show about 10 years ago and this show was almost the same. She had the Harletts, Delores Delago and the electric wheelchair bit and some Sophie Tucker jokes - mind you some of the same jokes.

I realize that people like to see what has made her famous but she needs to mix in new material to keep it fresh. It was too predictable.

She still has that hyper energy, swivel hips, and a decent voice. However, I think that will be the last time I pay big money to see her show. If you've never seen her live, you'll really enjoy yourself. If you have already seen her live show, save your money and catch it again on DVD.

It's the same with Diana Ross; they've become oldies acts, and it can be boring for those of us who've seen them live before. Personally, I've moved on to Lady Gaga.

It is kind of sad. I grew up on the Divine and I haven't gotten stale (hyper energy and swivel hips). Why should she? Yes, Rick, Lady Gaga!!! Not sure what there is about her but I'm stuck.
