Plan on being in Philly for a couple of days and have contacted an escort there - . Any suggestions about a nice place to stay? Want something close to the action in Center City, unpretentious so that I won't feel uneasy about going in/out with this guy. Also, what about some nice places to go for dinner with a young man? Thanks!!

You can try the Doubletree Hotel located at Broas and Locust Sts. It is a nice place and pretty reasonable. It is really smack dab in the middle of everything.

There is also a Holiday Inn located at 13th and Walnut Sts. - but it is an express and the corner can get quite loud.

There is also a Gay B&B called The Alexander Inn located at 12th and Spruce Sts. The rooms are small, and it is a bit on the pricey side for a room - but very quaint and they do have a nice breakfast in the morning. check out - http://www.alexanderinn.com

There are quite a few nice resaturants around - "Ruth Chris' Steak House" is across form the Doubletree...

"The Inn Philadelphia" is on Camac Street between Locust and Spruce in the "gayborhood"...

And there are several nice restaurants (pricey) on Spruce Street...

If you want a good burger or breakfast - try "More Than Just Ice Cream" at 12th and Locust - quite a nice gay crowd hangs there - and some cute waiters too....

If you want to know more - e-mail me - I can also suggest some great escorts from Premier if you wish....

Have fun...

I'll second the suggestion to stay at the Doubletree. It's well kept and has nice rooms, and is basically around the corner from the major gay nightspots in town. The Holiday Inn Express is too expensive for the room quality IMHO, and the internet access will cost you an arm and at least 3 inches of cock. The Alexander Inn is completely quaint, affordable, and gayborhood local, but I believe internet access is only available in the exercise room in the Lower Level, and if the escort's alone he must have your full name to enter if the desk clerk is being alert that evening. Also a great stay is the Wyndham at 17th and Race streets, average expense with an expansive and bustlingly elegant lobby. For the same feel, the Marriott between 12th and 13th on Market has shops(Starbucks of course, Kinko's, etc) and a bar, and during the right time of day, the best fountain in Philadelphia for relaxing indoors with a book or a drink. It's kissing cousinadjacent to City Hall is the Marriott Courtyard, which is completely middle of the road, although no access ( at least when I was there it was only in the gift shop, and make sure you're clear with your escort which Marriott is yours). Any of these places should be unpretentious enough for you, or at least so busy as no one will notice anything special about your visitor.

Some of my favorite restaurants of the moment are:

Valanni, 13th and Spruce: mid upper end fare with good service

Blue/Bleu, 18th and Locust: parkside, I like it for brunch and coffee, stylish with a mixed crowd

The Venture Inn, 255 Camac St.*: Gay Bar/Restaurant with affordable food menu, if you want to eat and breathe everything gay while eating

Judy's Cafe, 3rd and Bainbridge: great queer spot, haven't tried or found anything I don't like

Avenue B, 260 S.Broad: perfect if you want to act pretentious after a show by ordering a double digit cosmopolitan and dessert

On the to try list:

Red Chopstix, 15th and Locust, Euro-Asian

*between Locust and Spruce, 12th and 13th

If you'd like any more information, or get to try that last one before me, feel free to contact me.

How can anyone give you a recommendation when you don't tell us how much you want to spend? By the way, the nicer the hotel the better it is for escorts. The only issue is whether the escort is appropriately dressed.

Willy thanks for your input, but expensive does not always equal nice!! If I wanted wanted to pick out a hotel by price I can do that without asking any questions.

To Jon & Bastion - Thanks for your input I contacted the Alexander Inn. It is just what I had in mind. :-)

Glad you found what you wanted. I have spent a lot of time in Philadelphia and would have given you some recommendations, but not knowing what you wanted to spend I didn't know where to start.

Here is a good place to eat:

I would second Bastian's recommendation of Judy's Cafe as a relaxed, pleasant gay-friendly place to eat. It will also get you out of the gay ghetto around the Alexander Inn to see another Center City neighborhood that is interesting in its own right (sort of like getting out of Chelsea and eating in the East Village).

Last March I stayed at the Crowne Plaza on Market & 18th and liked it enough to go back again this year in late February. It's fairly well centrally located and is close enough to walk to the train station if you happen to be using Amtrak. The employees are cordial, and the hotel is very well maintained. The rooms are spacious and quite comfortable.

By the way, Philadelphia's major hotels are once again having a special promotion through March where you pay for your first weekend night (either Friday or Saturday) and get the next night free. It's a great deal. (Amtrak is also discounting their fares with advanced purchase via the internet.)

the website for those hotel deals is http://www.gophila.com. Some pretty good deals on good hotels. Id add my recommendation for the alexander inn. I stayed there once before while "vacationing" and had a very nice stay and its in a great location.

You also might want to check out the new "resturant row" that has happened along Chestnut street near 7th. There is Jones right at the corner of 7th and Chestnut, in which you'd be very comfortable taking a younger, er, guest. Then also next to that is the Blue Angel and then on the other side of the street is a resturant called " Morimoto" ran by the Iron Chef of the same name!

Allez Cuisine!
