My first reaction also, Greg. Why not a couple painting their house? Maybe with their kid helping out? If this is a fair sample of the campaign's message, they should have billed the Mormons.

Edit: Well, maybe not my first reaction but still too self indulgent for a campaign to defend Gay marriage.

The msg needs to appeal to Latino & black voters. Ffor them family is the alpha & the omega. I agree with Ms. On this one. Show real gay famlies pull at their heart strings, show minority gay famlies.

Ok when I made my remarks I was at the day job and on short breaks. Now that I am home and have a chance to briefly although with a wee bit more time sit in front of the laptop I took at http://www.noh8campaign.com/ I'm sorry to say but this is kind of sad. Those who voted against us were by and large minorities. Looking at those who are duct taped and the writing no h8 on their face are mostly white with just few token ethnic folk. This is very very sad. These people MUST reach out more to the minorities and those with strong religious views and I am not seeing them doing it with this promo. They need to reach out to Lupe, Juan and Maria. The No H8 folk need to reach out to those in the churches, get high profile religious folk who are on our side to do PSA's go knock on some doors and start calling folk up on the phone banks. These ads aren't going to change my aunts mind who lives in the middle of east LA by any stretch of the imagination. This is a sad sad campaign if this is what they are putting out.

I like this idea. My ignorance here. The only high profile folks I've heard of are on the other side. Could you give me some names of those in favor?

From each according to his ability.

I don't think anyone involved with this campaign intended it to be the only campaign, or to change every mind any more than "Prop 8: The Musical". It's a way for ONE photographer to contribute efforts in a way that he is able. And it's a way for celebrities to show their support.

There are other efforts under way. None of them will represent the sum total of the effort, but hopefully each will sway one vote.

PSA's cost money. You likely won't see many of them unless there's an initiative on a ballot coming up.

For a brief moment I thought about making a comment involving testing the prostate for cancer but refrained. Public Service Announcements are not the same as Prostate Specific Antigens, although in some cases there ARE similarities.

Deej-

Are you really happy quoting Karl Marx? I completely understand the intent of your post but think the quote not what I would have chosen.

Best regards,
