Funny, touching and well acted! I had a great time last night watching this revivial of Neil Simon's classic comedy on Broadway last night. Laurie Metclaf is, once again, outstanding and does not dissappoint in her role as Eugene's mother, Kate Jerome. Of special interest is the young actor, Noah Robbins, who captivated the audience as young Eugene.

The only disappointment is the tight cramped seating at the Neaderlander Theater! Get an aisle seat!

Despite some dire warnings from the producers of this revivial that the follow-up show, Broadway Bound, may be in jeopardy if advance sales do not improve, it's still a good night of theater. And it actually had an intermission, too!

Memoiries

So Ed, where did you go during the interval? I hate those cramped seats, but even some new theaters have them. You'd think they were all planned by the airlines.

I can see where the Neil Simon shows might be in trouble. Playbill shows that they didn't sell half of their tickets in the preceding week, and the average ticket price was $25.90!!

Hey- He Ain't Really Singing!

Hey, Ed, one more question. Were you able to find all of the hidden microphones on stage? Today's Wall Street Journal has a very interesting article on all of the sound tricks being used on Broadway. BBM had 23 hidden microphones to help project the sound.

Read all about lip-synching, dubbing, and other tricks here:

I didn't venture far from my seat, Lucky, I was front row center mezzaine, so unlike her magesty, I didn't have to sit on the throne at the interval! Perhaps she'll be at one of my London shows next week! I, too, am planning on seeing War Horses, I understand it is quite moving and well done.

BTW, Noah Robbins is from Washington DC, not hooville! There was a similar piece in Friday's NY Post.

Saturday night is Superior Donuts. looking forward to that one.
