I have the pleasure of going down to the Los Angeles area for Thanksgiving weekend. I don't really want to stay in LA so was considering Long Beach or some place in the OC. I'll be doing Disney, Knotts and Six Flags while down there as well. I of course will be choosing my hotel off of Priceline's bidding section. I know call me cheap but I want to spend my money at the parks and eating good Mexi food! So any suggestions on which parts off of Priceline's maps I should consider? And for those that might be wondering will I be working? Yes I will but those dates will be announced at a later time.

Hugs,

Greg

There are a few nicer hotels in downtown Long Beach and Huntington Beach, and a couple next to Disneyland. There is a relatively new Ayers hotel in Seal Beach right near the 405 freeway, and about 2 miles from its little Main Street by the beach. Also a few in the Hollywood and West Hollywood can be nice, but a few there can be in seedier areas. Of course there are always smaller decent Best Western-type hotels too, but the area they are in can define how nice they are. You'd have to point me in the direction of your "Priceline's Maps" you are considering, and I could take a look. Keep in mind if you stay in downtown Long Beach that Disneyland is about 30-40 minutes east, Hollywood about 30-40 minutes north, and Magic Mountain (my favorite, as it has the best roller coasters) is about 75-90 minutes northwest--with no traffic. Add rush hour, and you might double those times.

I unfortunately can not link to the maps on Priceline. I've stayed in LA and Weho many times since I have family in LA so I am familiar with all that. It is the LGB and Disney area that I am not familiar with. I figured since most of my time will be spent in the Disney area either that or LGB area would be the better bet.

Isn't WeHo the LGBT area...?

LGB or KLGB is the FAA identifier for the Long Beach airport. SEA or KSEA is the FAA identifier for the Seattle regional or international airport. I have always thought that SEABOY was using the airport identifier even if he thinks airplanes are "thrill" rides and not transportation. :)

Frankly if you are going to try and combine Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm in Orange Co with Magic Mountain way out in the San Fernando Valley you are gong to need a car. Thus assuming you have a car I might suggest finding a hotel in downtown Los Angeles. That way you are about equidistance from all the places you want to visit. Priceline and Hotwire should both have some excellent offerings. There are also some great hole-in-the-wall restaurants in the downtown area ie. Philippe’s (supposedly originated the French dip sandwich), The Pantry (old style comfort food), Ciros (fantastic Northern Mexican food), and The Serenata de Garibaldi (wonderful Veracruz style seafood). There are also a couple of excellent Chinese restaurants in Chinatown and Howikawa’s in Little Tokyo is great if you like teppan style Japanese food. From downtown L.A. it is also an easy drive to West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. Long Beach is straight down the Harbor (110) freeway.

Have a great visit and enjoy.

Charlie and KMEM,

Thanks for the clarification...I was under the impression that he just dropped the "t"...as many people do forget our transgender friends.

I no longer think of planes being a thrill ride. Even though I still enjoy flying with all these silly regulations of having to take off even flip flops (!), four ounce containers, inconsistances of how many baggies depending on how TSA feels at whatever location flying has lost its luster. Now what I feel is the thrill ride is me on my knees face down ass up for a good tonguing and a nice hard cock :) Sorry about the confusion of the LGB. I've traveled enough around the country that when typing it's just easier to use the codes. I do see though how one would think it was lesbian, gay and bi, but I would never leave out the trans. Pardon the expression but I think those that are living as trans have some major balls to live how they feel comfortable. So much love and props to my trannys!

I completely agree about the airlines. I was referring to an exchange of posts some time back when I kiddingly referred to giving passengers "thrills" and you replied that would be fine with you or words to that effect.

I avoid the airlines whenever possible. I don't think I have made more than 6 flights on the airlines since 911 and didn't like any of them. Years ago I flew at least twice a week on the airlines.

Between the TSA and other thefts of our freedoms, flying in any form may not be fun before too long.

I arrive in Milwaukee Tues morning and will be taking the train to the city from the airport. After Milwaukee I'll be taking the bus from Milwaukee to Chicago and then bus it to St. Louis. I thought about flying or train but thought about the hassle for such short flights and thought that it being fall and stuff a nice bus ride would be a nice way to see parts of the country that I haven't seen before. Plus having wifi on the bus was a big factor :)

I would definitely NOT recommend staying in downtown LA if you're driving, for the simple reason that you'll end up paying and arm and a leg for parking. That's why when I use Priceline for a driving trip, I always try to avoid zones where some or all of the hotels are likely to charge for parking.

Also, Long Beach is not "straight down the Harbor freeway"; that will get you to San Pedro. Downtown Long Beach is at the end of the Long Beach (710) freeway; the eastern (i.e., closer to Orange Co.) side of LB (and Seal Beach) is at the end of the 605 (San Gabriel River) freeway.

There are usually tons of hotels available on Priceline in Anaheim/Buena Park. You might also find some good deals on better quality lodging further south around Costa Mesa, John Wayne Airport (SNA) and Irvine. However, this would put you farther away from Six Flags.
