I usually have swollen lymph nodes and other symptoms of an infection a day or two after having sex. It doesn't matter who I have sex with. I am wondering it's just me or other people have similar problems. I can't hire escorts more than a day for this reason because the next day I need to rest. I sometimes miss work due to an extreme fatigue and sickness after sex. What about you guys?

If you were my patient, you'd get a blood count, a HIV, a syphilis screen, a lupus (ANA) test and a cytomegalovirus titre. If they were all negative, I'd say it was just you. But I'd give you a course of tetracycline to maybe cover a low grade prostatitis.

This doesn't sound "normal" to me.

Depending on the size and "enthusiasm" of my partner, I sometimes get stretch marks near my mouth and the TMJ starts acting up due over exercise of the jaw. But swollen lymph nodes and infection symptoms have never occurred to me.

I "hope" you're talking to your health care professional about this one. I definitely wouldn't play "I've Got a Secret" with these symptoms. At least for you own peace of mind you need to get this checked out.

Thanks..

I am negative for all those... I was just curious but hesitant to ask people around me.

Why can't I have "I've Got a Secret" such as a 10 inch cock instead... :(

Well, good. I'm always feeling lousy for a day or two after overseas flights, probably from whatever is re-circulating in the air that I'm exposed to. Never had swollen lymph nodes though. With all this H1N1 nonsense (?) I'm going to feel less silly wanting to wear a mask when flying this winter. In fact, will it be long before airlines start passing them out?

I don't get flu strangely

Oh overseas flight... I have to rest a week after one lol... Still I am lost when I get back.. I rarely travel these days.. One of the escorts, I met last year couldn't travel due to a personal reason so I flew to him three times. It was exhausting. I do think I have a weak body but if I could fix it I would pay anything. If there is a symptom then there is a reason right? Dr. EuropTravl can you be my Dr. House? :)

I'm sure the masks are in the works and they will be for purchase at $25 a mask.

The last thing an escort wants to do publicly is admit any variance of perfect health...but, here I go, lol:

My lymph nodes swell periodically...in relation to stress or change in climate. Granted, I have no disease and am relatively "perfect in health"...but, if I do not eat or sleep properly I have a very quick tendency to get sick; moreso than other people I've noticed. You may be in a similar boat...when having such physical contact with a new person the things they bring you temporarily overstimulate your immune system.

I've not seen sex to affect my situation...but I'm not surprised it may do this to you. Possibly consider increasing vitamins before hooking up? A good water bottle of airborne may help a lot prior to and after the encounter.

I suspect a recurring urinary track infection. Ask you Doctor to test for the possibility. I also suggest Cranberry juice and/or Cranberry extract capsules available with the vitamins in any drug store. It is believed to help clear out the bacteria. I had such syptoms several times, although not soon after sex. Then it really hit, with fever up to 103, achy and too tired to move a muscle. BUT no stomach upset and no cough or lung problem, which are clues that it is probably not the flu. If this happens to you, the Doctor can clear it up quickly with antibiotics. Be sure you have a thermometer and don't let it get so high before you seek help.

The symptoms that you describe are an immune response to exposure to new bugs (virus, bacteria). Assuming that you are practicing safe sex, the bugs are probably being transmitted orally through kissing, which is a very common transmission mode for relatively 'weak' viruses. Our mouthes are a perfect breeding ground for bugs. As others have suggested, try a dose of Airborne before an encounter and be sure to use Listerine after the encounter. If you continue to have difficulties, or otherwise have frequent infections, even common ones, you may need an immune workup, specifically looking for a low level of an immunce complex called IgG. Good luck

Thank you all

Thank you for differential diagnosis!

Also, Dannon yoghurt has something called Dan Active, which contains a live culture of some of the beneficial bacteria which inhabit the digestive track and help defend against harmful bacteria. Test have shown that it helps to restore the immune system of people who have been taking antibiotics, which have impared the beneficial bacteria as well as the bad. The implication is that it can sometimes help build up the immune system.

Airborne Not For greatness

Airborne is probably one of the biggest hoaxes ever put upon the flying public. Developed by a schoolteacher-oh, whoopee.

Try googling it and you see that it is worthless-especially in working immediately to keep you healthy on a flight.

This, from Wikipedia:

A medical report on Airborne addressed some of these concerns, specifically regarding its large amounts of vitamin C:

There are some concerns. First, there is no conclusive evidence that this product or any of its ingredients prevents colds or shortens their duration. Second, the adult tablet contains 1 g of vitamin C, and the directions for use advise taking 1 tablet at the first sign of a cold and repeating the dose every 3 hours as necessary. Vitamin C in doses higher than 1 g increases oxalate and urate excretion and may cause
.
Third, the safety of this herbal extraction combination has not been established. And with herbs and dietary supplements in general, we only have the manufacturers’ word on the label for what’s in them.

To be sure, the data is pretty inconclusive relative to the effectiveness of over the counter preparations such as Airborne. However, the ingredient that seems to provide the most protection is not Vitamin C but rather zinc. Zinc plays a significant role, inhibiting some viruses from adhering to mucosa, particularly in the nose and mouth. This is why many people find Airborne effective in PREVENTING common nasopharyngeal infections. I would agree with Lucky's post that once you have the infection, Airborne does not seem to demonstrate any efficacy.

Several weeks ago I felt a cold coming on. I can always tell because for me it starts as a dry feeling in the soft palate. I started taking 6 capsules of Echinacea per day and sucking 6 zince lozenges (both are the recomended amounts) The next day I did have an active miserable cold i.e. runny nose and sneezing, slight fever. Same the second day. The third day the active phase had gone. But I continued to have some post nasal drip. Did the Echinacea and zinc shorten the cold? No way to tell, of course, but it didn't hurt.

I have learned not to use decongestants, because for me they dry up the sinuses but that leads to sinus infection and a month and a half of drip and coughing--or so the Dr told me. Best for me to let the cold take its course, but the Echinacea and zinc seemed to help.

Ooh

I drink a lot of orange juice, green tea (although too much is bad) and eat a lot of fruits when I feel like I coming down with something... I usually get sick over-eating... though... :)
