Boyzone Singer Gately Dead at 33

Stephen Gately, the cute singer for the British band Boyzone, has died in Mallorca at age 33. The cause of death is at yet undetermined. The singer came out of the closet to announce that he was gay, virtually ending the band's popular run.

 

I had a crush on him, so when I learned that he was playing Joseph in the West End musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in London, I had to see it. It popped my bubble a bit as he was not as cute in person, and a bit on the fem side. But the teen girls in the audience still went crazy for him.

What a shame. I also saw him perform Joseph in London and thought he did a great job. He was such a sweet, cute, spirited lad.

So Sad

 

I am so saddened by this. He was one of my first crushes of a pop star. Somehow even before he came out I just knew he had to be gay. Anyway, I am so sorry to hear this news.

The early word on cause of death is that after a night of drinking he choked on his own vomit. What a tragic death for a young talented man (for anyone for that matter).
