For those that care I might not be posting that often for a wee bit. I just learned that my step dad's cancer has spread and he has just months to live. So if y'all don't see me posting all that often for a few months I haven't been banned or given up on the board I'm just taking some time out to be there for his wife and my sister as much as I can.

Hugs,

Greg

I'm sorry to hear that...

I hope you take good care of yourself while attending your family. You are so sweet. I'll take you out for a nice dinner when you are free again...

Thanks guys for the kind words. I was supposed to call my sister back tonight but just hearing about the cancer going into his liver was just about all I could take today and still function like a human being. I don't go into the day job till later Saturday so I'll give her a jingle in the afternoon.

Hugs,

Greg

Sending you strength....

Your sister is lucky to have a caring influence like you around.

I'm sure your presence will help to allay some of her fears during this stressful time.

Please be sure to take proper care of yourself, too.

Hugs@you, Greg!

Been to this dance WAY too many times in the last few years. Remember to breathe, even when you have to force yourself.

Greg,

Having just lost my mother to (breast) cancer back in June I have an idea of what you are going through, as do so many others on this message board. The unfortunate reality is that there is no one here that this terrible disease has not touched in some way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, and your family.

I called my sister and was told that the Dr. wasn't able to give an exact time line but from what she read any where to a few weeks to 6 or so months. He'd been in ICU for internal bleeding and some other medical mumble jumble I don't understand. Now I have to call his wife (I am on good terms with his wife, she rocks) but what does one say? I feel like I am going through last Aug all over again but know that this time is the last. I kept myself busy running errands today and cooking up a mini storm of corned beef and an Italian veggie soup and took a nap. What a lovely smell of food that has been simmering on the stove top and slow cooking in the crock pot can be. Well tomorrow is another day and I will give her a jingle. Although some might feel he is just my step dad he's a great guy in my eyes. When I needed family the most he was there for me and took me in without any judgement. Only rules in the house, don't break anything and be myself :)

What do *we* say? We care about you, we offer you our empathy and compassion, and anything else we can do for you (and similarly, you for her).

Families are not only formed by happenstance of birth.

Hugs to you also,

Honcho.

Greg, you're getting lots of kind thoughts and positive energy coming your way from this community. Just remember to take care of yourself too, or you won't be able to take care of your family.

Step dad is hopping a plane to Boston on Tues to see family on that side of the coast for the week. I plan on going to see him shortly after he gets back. Doing much better on my side at least :)

Hugs,

Greg
